Ha, That got your attention didn't it?
I was bored and flicking through the tv channels last night and came across a programme which intended to spend two hours running through a countdown of the nations favourite chocolate as voted for by some group or other? I watched it for about three minutes to make sure that I had got it right before turning off, what a pointless programme.
Now don't get me wrong, I love chocolate probably too much (especially as a type 2 diabetic) but why on earth would anyone want to watch a programme where people gave their opinions about why a particular chocolate was so good! I know which chocolates I like and which I don't (a quite short list), if I wanted to know the favourite chocolate then surely the easiest way to find out would be to look at the sales figures.
I would happily watch a programme about where to get the best chocolate or good chocolate recipes even an "is chocolate bad/good for you" programme. Why on earth would I want to watch a programme about what someone else's favourite chocolate was and even if I did how could I stretch the programme out to two hours!
It is just like the awards programmes, I can understand that if you are a director you might like to know that a group of professionals in the industry thought that yours was the best movie but surely in an industry like that it is the box office that decides if you are good and why would I want to see you getting a pat on the back, or a small statuette, from your friends for this. If it is good I would rather watch your movie / acting / make up etc.
For a full list of which programmes annoy this grumpy old man please message me directly ( but it includes soaps, scripted reality tv and most programmes with an over dramatized or American voice over).
Please feel free to contribute your own particular "bête noir".
GRRRRagon xx
