Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with breast cancer stage 2 a month ago. It is great to contact people. I haven’t really processed what has been happening. How is everyone coping with it?
Just wanted to say hi, I have been diagnosed with grade 3 invasive ductal this week not sure on stage yet as had mri a few days ago will find out more on Wednesday and treatment plan but more than likely the dreaded chemo will be involved. I have been doing ok but yesterday was going through the whole what if it’s spread stage. How are you doing?
Hello,
It was a bit of a shock at first. In my case, I was completely healthy and couldn’t find any reason for getting cancer. I asked myself many times, “Why did this happen to me?” But after a while, I decided to focus on my mental health, because I realised it was all related to stress and anxiety.
Now, I go on long walks, try to surround myself with good friends, I'm learning to love myself. I am trying to be compassionate to myself and waiting for my surgery in May.
Please don’t stress and believe you are in good hands.
I can speak for myself as I was recently diagnosed with invasive ductal cancer grade 2 for now as I am still doing investigations. I'm still going going through the motions and still coming to terms with it. Listen to your team and don't be afraid to ask questions. Over time you will process and try not to stress too much.
Glad that you focusing on your mental health, I love walking to. I am a positive person but always have to think about worst case scenarios so I can think about how to deal with it.My mum had breast cancer at 45 so I knew as soon as I found the lump that it was going to be. Just hate the waiting game and just want to get on with the treatment .The hospital are great and I can’t fault them so far
Have they given you your treatment plan after the surgery?
I totally understand that uncertainty is the hardest part, but just make sure you take care of yourself and keep your morale up at all times.
I will have radiotherapy and take medication to help prevent the cancer from coming back. I’m not sure about chemo yet—they will probably let me know after the surgery.
Yeah they will take a margin around the tumour as they want that to be clear, I assume you will have lymph node biopsy too. I had surgery in Feb then more surgery in Mar, due to start chemo on Fri. Just keep an open mind, even though I knew they would check after the first surgery, I was so certain that they wouldn't find anything else, I was upset when they told me margins weren't clear and that I would need further surgery and go through chemo after all.
I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. At first, I was told that I would most likely need chemotherapy and that it could cause early menopause. That’s why I had two cycles of egg freezing treatment.
Even though I was later told that I might not need chemotherapy after all, I’m fully aware that anything is possible. Still, I’m not sure if I’m truly ready in case it does happen.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
