Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with breast cancer stage 2 a month ago. It is great to contact people. I haven’t really processed what has been happening. How is everyone coping with it?

  • Hi Silan

I'm about a month from diagnosis too. Stage 1, grade 3, lumpectomy & SNB 3wks ago & now (im)patiently waiting for Oncotype results to determine chemo or not.

How are you coping? Do you have a treatment plan yet?

Hoping we can keep each sane with the support on here

  • Hello,

Thank you for replying to my message. I have grade 2 breast cancer, which is hormone-sensitive. I have gone through egg preservation treatments and will undergo surgery in May.

It was really hard to accept at first, but I’ve started to acknowledge the situation and live with what I have been given.

I am always here to share both the good and the bad. I hope we can speak more about life and living with cancer.

  • Hi, I was diagnosed in Jan, had a lumpectomy in Feb but found precancerous cells around the lump and tiny amount in the lymph node biopsy so had 2nd surgery in mar and will start chemo next Fri. Initially I was told I may not chemo so just be aware things can change and good to read these forums to get more of an idea of things to do, terminology etc. It makes the meetings you will have with the surgeon/oncologist much more easier to understand.

  • Hello there,

I was diagnosed with grade 2 Invasive ductal cancer in March and was also informed that I have three masses in one breast, however what is also concerning is that a few of my lymph nodes are swollen. I have been battling a cold on and off for weeks while having several biopsies.  Im 39 years old with a 7 year old child and  still coming to terms . I'm trying to stay optimistic and not stress too much as this does not help.

  • Hi,

I can imagine that how hard can it be to go through cancer with a little child depending on you. Please take care of yourself and do whatever makes you feel happy. Stay positive..

  • Thank you so much for the kind words .....trust me I'm trying, however putting on a brave face is hard sometimes.

  • My daughter is 6 and I downloaded the book called 'Mummy's lump'. It tells a short story about a mum who goes through treatment, she still doesn't quite understand what I have but she's aware now of the consequences of surgery, chemo etc.

  • Thanks for the suggestion as this sounds like a great way to explain the current situation. Best wishes to you and your little one

  • Thanks, you too.

Yeah it's a good way to let them know more about the treatment side of things how it affects everyday life

  • I’m a bit further along than you, it’s a hard stage but once you start treatment/surgery then you do feel a bit more in control. Chemo isn’t easy for me, but for others it’s ok. I’m on my 2nd cycle of ec. I’ve got a total of 15 cycles in total (ec then paclitaxal), then radiotherapy. I’m 49. Er and pr positive. Her2 negative. Was found in 7/12 nodes. Try and take each day as it comes. It’s bloody hard and I’ve now lost my hair although I have cold capped. But in the long term this is a blip in our lives and we will get thru it. Treatment is so good nowadays and I remain positive. Chemo is no walk in the park. If you have little ones then you will definitely need help for the week after chemo x
