Apologies for writing this.

over Christmas I had a sharp pain in my breast, which I dismissed instantly as I helped get boxes in and our of the loft.

the pain got so intense and painful I went to the doctor who examined me there was no lump or discharge, but as I had it for so long I was referred for a mammogram and now awaiting appointment.

the pain is constant  in my breast and sometimes go into my back.  Sometimes stronger

I stopped wearing my bra as it was hurting and with the current stay at home it doesn’t matter wearing thermal top. This evening I took off my top there was a wet patch on my top and a red ish colour

I don’t want to be a problem to anyone especially with covid

I’m 36

  • Hi Snowflake 2018 welcome to the forum and please don't  apologise  that's what this forum is here for and glad that you found us.

It does sound from what you are describing that this is a discharge from the breast and if its red in colour it sounds like it may be blood in the discharge.

You are not being a problem to anyone so please don't worry about that you are worried and that what we are all here for. Your GP has done the right thing referring you for  a mammogram and this is where they will know what it is that could be causing all the issues for you and it would be wrong of me to speculate as this could yet turn out to be nothing sinister but something that is easily treatable for you.

They may decide to also do an Ultrasound as young women like yourself have dense breast tissue and sometimes it is not always clear to see on a mammogram so its just in case they do decide to do that that's why.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on as we will be thinking of you. xxx

Sending some hugs your way for now. xxx

Thank you very much.  Hopefully I’ll have a date for the mammogram soon. I’m hoping that we can figure out what’s happening and that it’s not anything sinister xxx

  • I hope you get your appointment soon Snowflake. It must be really scary waiting, but they are usually quite quick (within 2 weeks) and once you get there you should know pretty quickly what's what. As Granny59 said, don't worry if they do an ultrasound. I'm 46 and had my first scare at 35 - it turned out to be nothing sinister but they couldn't see much on a mammogram and still can't now as younger women do have denser breasts. Despite COVID, depending on your hospital, you might be able to take someone with you for support, so it may be worth checking that. Wishing you all the best for your appointment xxx

Hey thank you so much. I have my appointment in two weeks time, I am able to take my mum with me as I have a disability and short term memory problem which the hospital know about and have agreed to let my mum in with me, I don’t know but my nipple is a bit more red than normal. I’m writing everything down for when we go. Difficult time as I have already said I’m worried about wasting time especially when the nhs is coping with covid

  • I'm glad you have your appointment. I was also able to have my mum with me for all my appointments. She wasn't much help at remembering things (???!) but it was lovely to have her with me. They might also let you record the appointment on your phone. Don't worry about burdening the NHS. Breast health is a major priority for them, even with COVID, at least in most hospitals. By seeing you earlier and figuring out what's happening, you're actually saving them resources as if there is something sinister, and there may very well not be, the earlier it's found the easier it will be to treat. I hope it all goes well xx

Slowly starting to panic as I have developed a red spot on this breast overnight. On the other hand could this be the pain I’m having just growing a spot?
