My husband died in my arms on the 2nd May (2009) - what happens now?

My husband - Chris - died on the 2nd May 2009 because he had anal cancer. He knew he was going and we spoke about lots and lots of things before he died. That is why I am just not prepared for the huge amount of guilt I feel now. I feel guilty that the world hasn't stopped turning round even though he has died. I feel like everything should stop as a mark of respect. I also feel very guilty that he had to be so ill he had to die. What a cruel cruel thing it is to make someone so ill their body just stops working. I wasn't ready for him to go. I really really hope these are normal feelings because I must hang on to my sanity for the sake of my 3 children. I have never known sadness like I feel right now. I can't believe that I will not hear his voice or feel his touch again. We were married for almost 32 years and I have known Chris for 34 years - since I was 16. What happens now? Ailsa

Evening all , so sorry you had a rough night Patricia , there;s no wonder really with you being so worried about little Charlie , i'm sending all positive thought to her and her family and i'm sending you some sleepy dust and if it works let me know xx

Good luck with the meeting Tonight Bren and Teri , so very pleased for you both .xx Well after my slow start i got loads done today , i'd bought some new fencing for Gordons grave so i spent a couple of hours up there , removing the old stuff and everything else that had been put on it in  the last 11 months , it was going a bit messy and i couldn't keep the weeds from growing even through the slate , so i cleared everything off , put weedkiller down and just put a some things back , i've put a couple of photos on POA . I then came home and spent a couple of hours in the garden so i feel quite proud of myself . Still got lots planned through the week so hopefully i get it all done .

. Hope everybody else is having a good day ..

     Take care all

Hi everyone.  Lynne you have done a lovely job of Gordon's grave.  The new fencing looks just the job.

Lesley - happy birthday for tomorrow.  Have you got anything planned?

Patricia I am sorry you are still not sleeping.  I have no suggestions I'm afraid but I hope you find the solution soon.  Maybe you are right - maybe you just don't need much more sleep.

Bren, Teri - I hope you are having a thoroughly good catch up as all good penguins should!  It sounds like your retreat was good because you met someone who doesn't live far from you.  I am glad you got good from it and a chance to do something different and meet new people.

I am trying to do some other things instead of the garage this week so I have been to pilates and tomorrow I am going shopping to the White Rose Centre after work with a friend.  I've only ever been there once before so I am looking forward to that.  I hope veryone else is okay - Gayle I hope your cold is getting better.  Take care eveyone.  Ailsa xx

    Thanks Ailsa

No nothing planned, only work  :-(   Will probably see Rachel after work but that's it. Am going out on Friday with girlfriends though, so will enjoy that.

Loved dance aerobics last night, absolutly glowing when I got out. I dragged Rachel along with me, I don't think she is speaking to me now!!!! I can't wait to do it again. Pilates on Thursday, hope I enjoy it as much. The exercise certainly helps me to sleep, full 7 hours last night.

Have a good day all, xxxxx

    Morning everyone,

Happy Birthday Lesley and glad you are enjoying the exercise.  I bought a crosstrainer a few weeks ago (as I cant get out at night to go to a gym because of the kids) and I love it too now and use it most days.  Ailsa, glad you are doing a couple of things for yourself this week - I hope you enjoy the shopping today.  Lynne, the pictures were lovely and looking forward to seeing it in person soon.  Hope you have a busy day today and get lots done - its very satisfying when you do.  Patricia - sorry your not sleeping - me neither lol so no helpful hints I'm afraid but I can give you lots of sympathy and hugs.  Its horrible feeling like a zombie during the day when you've had a bad night.  Sorry I now forget what everyone else has said so I will just say a mass hello to everyone and send you bug higs.

I am still feeling rubbish :-(  I stayed at home all day yesterday and my parents had the boys so I got rest but by the end of the day I did feel a bit better but of course we all know its a bad move to be stuck in the house so started getting a bit emotional and ended up looking at old photos.  I'm in the house again today as still don't feel 100% and don't fancy the 3hr round trip to my work feeling like this so I will leave it to tomorrow.  So by the end of the day I will definitely be going mad and be desperate to get out this house.  Lets hope I can keep the emotions away today though - probably because I'm feeling sorry for myself with this cold doesn't help.  Anyway I best get off and get some work done.  At least I won't fall behind as I can work whereever there is an internet connection!

    Have a good day
