My husband - Chris - died on the 2nd May 2009 because he had anal cancer. He knew he was going and we spoke about lots and lots of things before he died. That is why I am just not prepared for the huge amount of guilt I feel now. I feel guilty that the world hasn't stopped turning round even though he has died. I feel like everything should stop as a mark of respect. I also feel very guilty that he had to be so ill he had to die. What a cruel cruel thing it is to make someone so ill their body just stops working. I wasn't ready for him to go. I really really hope these are normal feelings because I must hang on to my sanity for the sake of my 3 children. I have never known sadness like I feel right now. I can't believe that I will not hear his voice or feel his touch again. We were married for almost 32 years and I have known Chris for 34 years - since I was 16. What happens now? Ailsa

I don't mind travelling for a meetup if it somewhere central. But if we stay overnight I am not sharing a room with calamity Jane either (just kidding lol!!).

Hot chocolate sounds a great idea. I am sitting with a nice cuppa and just about to put a film on.

Dot - your plans sound great. I help run a playgroup and we did the coffee morning the last 2 years and did really well. It was very touching how much people donated. I am not doing it this year as I feel it will be too emotional to be honest. Maybe next year I will do it again. We do a lot of fundraising for the playgroup and I know what you mean about asking people for stuff. We seem to constantly have to do that.

We hold it in the local library (where I work) and so get lots of people coming in........and we involve local groups who use the place for their meetings...It becomes a sort of community event.......and is really enjoyable. Though we're not originally from the village we live in my hubby is well-liked and respected by everyone!! And if he's not seen out and about in the park then I get stopped by folks asking if he's still OK or back in hospital again. The response to our appeal for help and donations is all the more touching because everyone knows Alan and his story and they want to help...............

helen, I know just how you feel - and my kids aren't even back yet! i spent the last 2 days in meetings and sorting out my classrom, and i am absolutely shattered! Like you, the thought of having to chat at a party would fill me with horror, because i don't have he energy for it!

    enjoy your quiet evening

I'll agree with that Helen. I think I might have an early one tonight. I am not good at lying in so going to bed early is sometimes a treat and the solution to being tired. Speak tomorrow. Ailsa xx
