DELETED

  • HELLO DEAR FRIENDS. I have been pleased to read all your wonderful heartfelt words in verse. Also to ride the wave of grief with you and your experiences of cancer, both my own and my husbands.

You will notice, if you read this I have deleted all my poems that I can find. I do this because I had a poem stolen, tinkered with, plastered all over the internet in many forms, claimed by others and fictitious so called facts associated with it. It was done by a malicious person. It caused me great distress because my poems are like my children in a way and whereas pills or counseling etc work for some, only poetry works for me and is a gift given to me by my dad as a tiny child of either 3 or 4 during the process of teaching me to read and write. I accept partly it is my fault for not reading the terms and conditions properly (bearing in mind the state I was in on joining...I didn't much care, I just craved the support and a place of self expression and to receive others perception of their grief through creative verse. I WANT TO THANK YOU ONE AND ALL for making this thread such a success and for the wonderful words you have written but in message replies and in poems you have written. Sadly, I think this is the end on here for me............ But, there it is anyway.  If anyone wants to contact me, DUTSIE has my email and I am happy for you to have it if you want it with my permission for her to share it. I shall very much miss posting here. Ok long gaps in between when I have been too unwell.....but it has been a sanctuary at times. I WISH YOU ALL WELL XXX

  • Hey Val,

Well you know my thoughts on this thread. I think the poetry thread you started has helped many people to express themselves and also for readers to identify with.

Creative writing is very therapeutic.  Not sure if you know but when MacMillan were playing around with there site; I noted one time that there were over 30 thousand views. Its amazing how our written words have helped other and in turn helped us! So I am very sad to hear you have deleted your peoms here.

I wanted to say the same thing happened to me. The things is - using a pen name for copyright purposes, I believe, also has the same effect.  So I was happy to continue on that basis.

We are all different and as I have told you personally, I do acknowledge and feel your unrest despite my personal positive outlook.

Grief can be isolating, hope you can bring yourself to come back here (and even put your poems back on). You know that there is a lot of support here.

    Sending you lots of love,

    Dutsie Xx

I am sorry to see that post from Darkhorse123,  I hope things are resolved and you return soon, I know I'm new here but it has taken me almost a year to get this far, it is the hardest journey I have ever undertaken and it will be as my name, endless.

  • Thank you so much, Dutsie. I am not permitted to discuss this on here. I can only say it goes beyond using my real name for copyright. My name was removed completely with no alternative insertion as temporary protection. I started this thread over a year ago and only now has it become an issue. I feel I have no choice but to leave it here. xx

  • Thank you for your kind words, endless. I am  2 years on and agree with your statement totally. I only wish I could remain to offer you my heartfelt support. Talk to Dutsie. Sadly it is out of my hands.

Upsets happen because the sun rises and sets. When upsets are beyond your control & in the hands of others it heightens any emotional disruption and often increases it.

This thread was started a year ago by me but only now has an issue been raised

I would sooner a whole post be deleted rather than be edited.

This is so sad, Val, though Dutsie is right -anyone’s work is protected under copyright as soon as it’s created, and copyright law protects that work for your lifetime, plus 70 years. You don't even have to use the sign.

However, you really created a wonderful thread, thank you so much, it's just sad we won't be able to read any more of your poems on here.

    Sue xx

  • Hello DorothyOz. I worked in the legal field for 27 yrs or so. To own something you must PROVE it is yours. This is what copyright is all about. I am no expert, but I do know I had a poem stolen and plastered all over the intenet. It was altered and also claimed by many people from various places. So the bottom line is that if I can't prove it is mine, the copyright does not protect me whatsoever.  My nickname above doesn't protect me either because in court it would and could reasonably argued that others using nicknames post other people's work....not to plagiarise it but to honour it.   Eg. Khan wrote:

    The moving finger writes

    And having writ,

    Moves on,

Nor all they piety nor wit

Shall lure it back to cancel half a line

Nor all your tears wash out a word of it.

Not bob on but near enough.....

I thank you all for your comments and generally don't have an issue with using a nickname. I DO not think however any site should force its adult membership to do that, whatever their intentions....but that is just my personal view to which I am not really entitled here since I didn't really read the rules about this on joining...my bad I guess to use an americanism. Bottom line is I will not be publishing any more poems on here. I went through hell over a nasty person stealing my work and I am never going there again.
