Before I write anything else, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart foe all your support not just in the past week but the past 18 months I needed your strenght to give me mine.

Bert's funeral will take place on Friday 5th March at 12. I make no apologies for the choice of music as he chose it himself. His First song will be

    Starting to feel normal again

This time last year I was just preparing for my second op - it was needed to acheive a wide margin and to hopefully close the gap in my wound which had been leaking serous fluid since my first op a month before.  I was also trying to get my head around the need for chemo and radio as follow in treatments.  I really had no idea what the journey ahead would be like.  There were lots of silent tears in bed at night and in the morning....

But here I am....  almost 14 months after diagnosis and whilst I'm still...

    Scan results and more..........

On Friday i went off to London for my 'end of treatment' scan results. My daughter who was visiting from Suffolk came along too. We went on the train and got to the Hospital about 15mins before my appointment time. Felt ok but a little apprehensive wondering what i might be told. I was called in after about 25mins. My Specialist spoke about my kidneys to start with as on Monday i had a small op to replace the two ureteric stents i have in place due to my renal failure last year. It appears that my...

    He's gone

It's been a while since I last blogged. I never really got used to the new site once it merged. It was just too big and stressed out for me to cope with. But I thought I should tell you all that Ian died yesterday very peacefully in the hospice.  It was so difficult for him towards the end. I was so glad he made it to the hospice because it gave me the chance to spend the last night with him in peace and quiet and with somebody else taking responsibility. I value that opportunity.

    update after 6 weeks

Very difficult to update a blog when they charge  30p a minute on the cruise!!  The cruise was a great success, despite feeling pains towards the end.  I did contact my cancer nurse and ask her to arrange my appointments for when I got home, telling her I thought I would be early.  I am afraid to say that I was right, and after we finished the cruise we cut short the journey down the coast to LA from San Franscico and then cut a few days off from the time with family, so our holiday short by a week in...

    Feelings

Had my right breast removed and reconstruction done, and results back, no chemo needed and no further signs of cancer.  So very lucky as it was caught in time before my two tumours could join up into one.  But have not felt like juming up and down for joy.  After all the rush from wtart to finish it has left a very strange feeling.  I guess that is the norm.

    2nd blog ever

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for your kind replies to my 1st blog, I feel quite rude that I didn't reply to them, didn't understand how these things work and didn't look at my blog lol haha.

Well what a roller coaster this experience is (I mean the cancer not the bloging lol!) I'm looking for advice from anyone out there who has had an APR or an LAR for rectal cancer.  I have a tumour 5cm from the anal verge.  I've had chemoradiotherapy and am booked in for surgery on 26 March 2010.
