update after 6 weeks

1 minute read time.

Very difficult to update a blog when they charge  30p a minute on the cruise!!  The cruise was a great success, despite feeling pains towards the end.  I did contact my cancer nurse and ask her to arrange my appointments for when I got home, telling her I thought I would be early.  I am afraid to say that I was right, and after we finished the cruise we cut short the journey down the coast to LA from San Franscico and then cut a few days off from the time with family, so our holiday short by a week in all, and came home to have my CT scan the next day.!

Seeing my GP later in the week she examined me and thought my pains and size was due to retained fluid, so she chased the oncologist for the CT results, and he arranged emergency addmitance to the hospital within 3 hours for a ultrasound to verify how much fluid there was for a drain.  When I had the scan 42 hours later the doctor said there was not enough fluid to worry about - he would confir with my doctors.  When my oncologist arrived at my bedside 2 hours later he said it was just the cancer growth, and has changed the recommended drug to one for a fast growing cancer, and hopefully the tests will all be finished before I go back on Friday, so they can prescribe the chemo for a week tomorrow.   With my stomach the way it feels I hope it works quite quickly to reduce the pressure on my stomach and lungs.
