IN MEMORY . . . Today was day 8 of cycle 1, so in for a Bleomycin infusion –
and touch wood still no real adverse side effects from the treatment. I even
swapped the anti-emetics for boiled sweets as they are just as effect now, and
I can stop taking many of the other meds until the next cycle starts.
So, that’s it until after Xmas for the final infusion of
cycle 1 – it seems things are going fast.

point – I’m extremely blessed to have you...
I am pleased to say that Pat has 'popped up' this morning and is feeling a lot better. He managed a short walk down the path near our cottage and has been in his studio painting again after a couple of weeks of not feeling well enough. It is nice to see. I admire his determination.
I cannot believe it. Mum has gone. I stayed with her all night. Stayed next to her in her bed. In my dressing gown. The morphine didn't work so well tonight. She was achy and uncomfortable, but didn't want dad near her. She wouldn't let sis sleep down with her. She didn't want me there really, but secretly I think she was glad. I knew something was wrong. I just had that feeling. I hardly slept, half hour most. Mum kept calling my name until about 5am. Needing me to move her, try and make her comfy...

I got a call this morning from disability to say they are delivering my wheelchair on Friday...there's no way I'm letting my sons shove me through asda christmas shopping...it will be a massacre..!!
I went to Preston yesterday..have been booked in for the steroetactic radiation on 10th January..I have to have 2 scans...a mould made for my face so it will be kept still...and then the brain blast in the...
Well, today began with Pat looking a bit off colour. He then said his feet were hurting and sure enough his legs were swollen and red. He is Diabetic and gets Cellulitis but has had a good run lately. It's my call and do I hope it won'rt blow up or ask for a GP call in case we get to the blister stage over the holiday. Asked for a call and our lovely GP was here an hour and a half later.
Whilst we were waiting the Carcinoid symptoms decided to come back and he was sick. Our GP has prescribed...
A few short days ago my life was in turmoil. I was unsure which way was up but i knew i had alot of downs. My mother has terminal cancer(bowel) and over the past year i have seen many changes to the woman i love. I dont know what stage the cancer is at but i expect we are closing in on the last hurdle. Mum sleeps alot and eats very little she is painfully thin and drawn but everyday she fights another battle.
I came upon this site while looking for advice and my god i found you all.it was like coming...
We went to the special treatment centre yesterday. It was a very calm and purpose built unit with a nice day room next to a garden and different rooms where patients were sitting receiving various forms of treatment including Chemo. The staff were pleasant and reassuring. Pat was nervous, as he has been told that the Octreotide injections were painful. There was tea and coffee making equipment and free supplies for relatives in the little kitchen off the day room.
First he was given a test dose...

After my good results over the last few months, and the reduction of my cancer count the onclogist said we could go away for Christmas, (but not fly!!), so we are off on a cruise to celebrate the fact that I've survived another year. When I come back I have a CT scan to see what is happening, but I've got a break from chemo, which I've been on for the whole of this year. Just in time for Christmas.

The chemo went pretty well, and I couldn’t really tell much difference between which bag was in the pump - Cisplatin, Etoposide, Bleomycin, or saline. Only problems were those caused by tramadol from having the stent put in – next time I’ll take something to counteract the side-effects of tramadol. The worst part of chemo I think was being hooked up to the infernal beeping pump 24/7. The best part was the kindness of fellow patients....
