    Needless to say the steroids never worked a bit, I didnt have high hopes for them in the first place but tried to remain positive.  The pain clinic called on Friday they still did not have his blood results yet and they want to see him today so I am just sitting at my desk having lunch before I go over the road to meet mum and dad for this appointment.  I am really lucky that I a) work on the main hospital site in Aberdeen…

  • Update from the Pain Clinic

    We had a appointment with the pain clinic this afternoon at the local hospice.  They are going to try putting dad on a short burst of steroids to see if that helps his pain,  his is in a lot of pain just now.  I saw him when we was with the doctor the pain was winding him so I told her and she managed to get a couple of his breakthrough tablets for him.  She took blood tests and hopefully we should get the results tomorrow…

    After dad having a relatively good day yesterday, he has went downhill again the emergency doctor had to be called in again at 5am, they just upped his hydromorphone because they wasnt sure what else to do because they could not get a hold of the cancer consultant at the hospice to inform them what dose of morphine they could give dad so apparently thay are putting in a complaint about that because there should be someone…

    Well the doctor finally came last night, dad was given a morphine injection as they thought it might be a muscle spasm they was told to give it a hour and if the pain hadnt subsided to call them back in, inevitably the injection never worked and the doctor had to come back out again, they tested his urine and thought he maybe had a infection so he was given antibiotics and diazepam to help him sleep.  He did finally get…

    Dad has really been having a bad time lately, he was up early this morning wanting painkillers at round about 4am, mum controls his pain relief because he would just be taking them like sweets so he got her up this morning because he was so sore, we put it down to his stomach as he ate more than he has been eating lately yesterday.  I was just with mum not long ago and when I was on the bus on my way home she called me…
