The consultant rang J before. He's now got the PET scan results. J has got cancer above his clavicals, in his chest wall, the middle of his chest, his abdomen, groin, spine, left hip socket and right ribs. John is to start ABVD chemo as planned on Thursday but might have to have radiotherapy at the same time. Horrified doesn't come close to beginning to describe how I feel right now. Every communication with the hospital…

Hmm. Not impressed today. J has his PET scan last Thursday. Our hospital doesn't have a PET scanner so he had to go to Preston. They told him there that the results would be on his consultant's desk for Friday. Fine we thought.

I wanted to say how we've been coping since finding out last week but it's kind of impossible to sum up really. All over the place I guess. Hearing the news on Wednesday - particularly the grade 4 spine stuff was devastating.

It's Hodgkins Lymphoma and his MRI showed it is in his spine too. So grade 4. We had a hastily convened meeting with the haematologist afterwards where it was decided that he'll have a PET scan next week, a meeting with him again the week after to confirm plans and start chemo that week probably on the 17th July. He will have ADVB (may have got muddled with letters there) for 6 cycles - going to the hospital every fortnight…

Yes, it's been another wonderful week in our house, I can't actually be bothered going on about my woes at the moment, save to say a rubber ring would help! so I'll just tell you about John, who has got bigger fish to fry.

He had his first ever GA this week on Thursday when he had his big biopsy. He got through it wonderfully well. We were all really impressed with how he didn't feel sick at all and tucked…
