    I've not been around for a few days as we've had a house full of visitors at the weekend then Toni has been in a lot of pain which the Palliative care nurse has been sorting. Toni now has an increased dose of morphine 50mg twice a day, Buscopan 20mg 4 times a day, paracetamol 4 times a day and amiltryptiline once a day. He also has oramorph for breakthrough.     Well all the drugs seem to be working and he is not in so much pain. I have just made a lasagne at his request so hopefully it will make him feel much better. Its awful to see him suffer. The palliative care nurse rang this morning to see how he was and left me with all the detail I need for getting help over the weekend.     Toni is in a lot of pain still in his rectum but the Palliative Care nurse has just been and she thinks it may be something pressing on the nerve so once again she is springing to the rescue and contacting our GP to arrange for some medication for him.

    Otherwise he would be okay. The pain has such a knock on effect in that it makes him feel so down and poorly that he has no appetite and so he isn't eating. He is planning…

    My husband has terminal bowel cancer which is recurrent having come back roughly 2 years after he was given the all clear.

    He has one large tumour in the original site as well as many secondaries in the bowel. To further complicate things he has a fistula between the duodenum and the large bowel so he can't have chemotherapy and surgery is out of the question. He is receiving palliative care only.
