    My scans have come back showing no signs of cancer anywhere other than the original tumour site discovered a couple of weeks ago. Yippee! What a massive relief.

    I realise looking at the blogs on this site, that I have a long journey ahead. Tomorrow I expect a call from the Colorectal nurse booking me in to see the consultant to discuss treatment in light of whatever is revealed by the MRI and CT scans. I just hope that the results get to the multidisciplinary meeting in time and we're not delayed by a week (these meetings are every Thursday morning in MK I gather). And then of…

    I would be glad to never have a barium drink again. A litre in an hour is pretty heavy going. What's more, I had to have a barium injection too and the radiographer couldn't get into the vein on the first arm so had to go to the other to get it to work. I am now the proud owner of twin bruises. How symmetrical.

    The weekend focused on a couple of family outings for the girls. The highlight was the Stony Riverside Fair. We were just approaching the first small roundabout when gorgeous daughter 1 spotted her first of many friends from school. It was all very sociable.

    I was pleased to be phoned by the MRI Unit and the Colorectal nurse co-ordinating my care on the same morning that I received the confirmation (over the phone from consultant) that it is a malignant tumour.

    I had the MRI scan yesterday two days later (10th). I think this was particularly for scanning the pelvic area to build up a detailed picture of the tumour and neighbouring tissue. For anyone who doesn't know, you…
