It's still early days

1 minute read time.

I realise looking at the blogs on this site, that I have a long journey ahead. Tomorrow I expect a call from the Colorectal nurse booking me in to see the consultant to discuss treatment in light of whatever is revealed by the MRI and CT scans. I just hope that the results get to the multidisciplinary meeting in time and we're not delayed by a week (these meetings are every Thursday morning in MK I gather). And then of course I hope to hear that the cancer hasn't spread and there is a clear treatment that can be started ASAP. Although I'm optimistic, I do realise that it is unlikely to be quite so straight forward.

For now, I'm just getting on with each day and trying to enjoy life as best I can. I got to ballet tonight for the second time this week - a brilliant class with only two of us there so almost private. I love my Wednesday ballet. As I don't know what my treatment will be, I don't know how realistic it will be to hope to keep these classes up but I certainly intend to try and get to each one I can while I'm still fit.

And, a quick message to my sister in case she is reading this: lots of love to you and M. I hope A has a comfortable night and puts up a good fight to beat the infection quickly. I'll be thinking of you. xxxx

    Hi Wannadance,

If guts alone can beat this Cancer you would do it. But as you say you have to wait on the results. You

realise that the road ahead is going to be tough but you have the strength, understanding, and most of all you are very Positive, whatever the outcome this is one girl thats ready for the fight. I wish you all the best in the future and hope your test results are What you expect. If you dont mind I would like to send Your sister all the best Wishes.

Take Care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xxx

What an inspiring message, I hope everything goes well for you - and (as they say on Strictly) 'keep dancing'. Love Val X

  • I wish you strength for your treatment. There will be times when you glide through the day and others when you will feel down; everyone calls this journey a roller-coaster. You certainly have the right attitude - don't let the b*gger grind you down!

    Best wishes,

    Hi Wannadance

I was in your position this time last year. waiting for those all important results. I needed a bowel resection and radical hysterectomy followed by chemotherapy and I'm now completely clear. It was a rollercoaster ride, but the year has flown by and I returned to work 4 weeks ago. I wish you all the luck in the world with your results.......and keep up that positive attitude!

    Hi Wannadance

I too had rectal cancer diagnosed after my bowel burst last July. I had an operation which resulted in a colostomy to give my bowel a rest.

After 6 months of chemotherapy which ended 3 months ago I now have the all clear.

So apart from my colostomy being reversed in the near future it is onwards and upwards for me. As Angela said it was a rollercoaster ride but not as frightening as it may first appear to be.

I too wish you all the luck in the world for a quick and speedy recovery. Lots of Love Julie X
