I would be glad to never have a barium drink again. A litre in an hour is pretty heavy going. What's more, I had to have a barium injection too and the radiographer couldn't get into the vein on the first arm so had to go to the other to get it to work. I am now the proud owner of twin bruises. How symmetrical.
That said, I was very happy to get the CT scan done today (14th). I did my assertive patient bit on Friday and called the X-ray department myself to get the appointment. Left to them I think I would have been Thursday next week, and even by ringing I was given 23 June to begin with. Hurrah for the the colorectal nurse. I asked her if going private was an option to speed things up. She went one better than that and managed to find a routine patient on the list who I could swap with. A week or so may not seem like much time to the X-ray dept, but to me at this stage it is way too long to wait.
Anyway, the scan itself was quick and no problem. The results should be with the oncology team for their multidisciplinary meeting on Thursday morning. I'll then get a call booking me in for my meeting with the consultant some time next week. Watch this space...
