Hi there, just want to share my story, back in 2020 when Covid hit I've started to experience first bleed after intercourse,I was experienced serious pain then ,was hard to get GP appointment and always saying get paracetamol it's normal , all women get low abdominal pain ...and I went for private clinic for a scan they found a huge uterine polyp 3cm and I was immediately operated. Biopsy was clear..and I started to live a happy normal life without pain. In 2022 I had my 3rd baby and my period started to be very heavy and waaay to long, now I can bleed heavy for 8-10 day , I became anaemic. After I've started to have again blood after intercourse, low abdominal pain I was thinking again I have a uterine polyp...I went to GP and found out a have 2 polyps on cervix, in summer 2024 I was supposed to have a hysteroscopy and polypectomy but my files got lost and apparently I was forgotten, after 5 months of waiting finally I have a hysteroscopy and polypectomy surgery on 13th Feb, General anesthesia and Mirena fit.
I'm a bit scared about General anesthesia and I'm anxious if they will find anything suspicious, as I've read a lots of stories here and many after hysteroscopy found they have cancer... I'm only 36 young , scared little woman
Hi CoriP
Welcome to the Womb group.
It is natural to be scared when having a general anaesthetic and a procedure. I remember being worried before my surgery and I suppose try to think of it that although it is a big thing for us ladies to go through, for them it is very routine and safe and they do them many times a week.
The hysteroscopy is just a little camera so they can take a closer look inside your womb and also so they can remove the polyp. They would normally send some samples of the womb lining and anything removed (polyps) to be double checked just in case there are any cancer cells.
Hopefully the mirena will help with the bleeding.
Good Luck for the 13th. Hope all goes well and you get some reassurance soon. In the meantime we are here if you need us. If talking things through would help, then please do give the Support Line a call.

Good luck for today- hope it all goes well

Hello everyone, everything went well, apart from I had breathing issues and I was intubated, my throat hurts a bit, but I'm fine. The doctor said everything went well, polips on the cervix removed, and during hysteroscopy he didn't saw anything abnormal, but still biopsy taken.. I also had mirena fitted in. Generally feeling OK after 2 hours, moderate pain soon going home.
Now îl wait patiently biopsy result they said it might take 2-6 weeks.
Thanks for the update, I was thinking about you. That is a long time for a biopsy result. It all sounds positive though.
My turn tomorrow but as an outpatient for biopsy. I am really worried though as my hyperplasia is 47mm and I can't understand why that is the way it is if not sinister. I am starting to wonder if is a combination on my HRT that I've been on for 3 years and being a bit overweight.
Hi everyone, a little update -
I'm on the third day after the procedure, im felling pretty well, a bit of abdominal pain but nothing compared to may previus heavy bleeding and pain during period, but now in the evening I noticed my urine very brown-red colour, I can't understand its blood or just brown ?
I might call my doctor tomorrow .
Have you a number for the hospital that you can call? If not I would give NHS111 a call for some advice this evening.
It sounds like you need checking out and testing for UTI perhaps.
