Hello everyone. I had a total hysterectomy a couple of weeks ago for stage 1A but I’m feeling really anxious waiting for the surgical staging. My diagnosis came as a shock and I don’t want to be unprepared if I need further treatment for my endometrial cancer.
Hi Annie, well done for having had your op and I feel for you as you wait for the histology results. Do you have any idea when you will hear? I was lucky in that my surgeon prebooked my appointment before my hysterectomy so I knew I’d hear two weeks after the op. With regard to results, on this group we have women whose result has remained the same as predicted, and those whose result was different. My surgeon was 90% sure that I wouldn’t need any further treatment, but my histology showed a few cells on top of my cervix, so I got the shock news that I’d been restaged to a 2, and that 25 x radiotherapy and 2 or 3 brachytherapy would be recommended, I thought I was prepared for that - but I wasn’t. I sat free in shock as I tried to process it all and let it settle. They were very good and took me to a side office and said I could stay there as king as I needed. One of my CNS nurses came in to sit with me and make sure I was okay. The next stage was to wait for an appointment with my oncologist so that she could explain my treatment plan. I was a nervous wreck when I arrived for that, but she was so lovely and her experience and expertise inspired confidence in me, and I left the appointment feeling 100% better than when I went in. I had my treatments and finished mid May last year and am glad I had it all. Wishing you all the best for yours and hoping you hear soon.
Hello Annie, I’m quite new to the site finding it invaluable at the moment, I was 1A staging before hysterectomy a few weeks ago, I also knew I had a rare and aggressive cancer called serous, so really wanted that staging to stay the same, unfortunately I found out yesterday it’s changed to 3A because a few pesky cells had travelled into one of my fallopian tubes, but on the bright side they believe all the cancer is gone, and now the chemo and other treatments will make sure it stays away. Now the shock has worn of I’m feeling much better as there is a plan in place to move forward…. you’re bound to feel anxious it’s such a worrying time. I wish you the best of luck these ladies on here are a great support network. Xx
Hi Holly, well done for getting this far and I feel for you with the shock you had yesterday about the restaging. It’s only a year ago that I had my shock that I needed treatment. I will be thinking of you as you start treatment. My cancer was grade 1 not serous but I had an odd thing as well as the spread to the top of my cervix - not cancerous cells in my fallopian tubes but precancerous - but mine weren’t a spread from my endometrial cancer but separate. It’s all quite overwhelming at times isn’t it, but we find a way of coping and we get through.
Hi MarmiteFan59, hugs to you, yes I think it’s a shock for us all, so you were incredibly lucky I’ve been through it all before with breast cancer twice, but it seems a life time ago now, it’s all new again, I will right my bio later. I’m going to stay as positive as I can with the odd breakdown in between im sure x
Hi I have also been diagnosed with stage 3a , surgery went well and I feel great. It’s is being suggested that I have combined adjuvant chemotherapy plus radiotherapy running concurrently I’m seeing clinical oncologist tomorrow. Wishing you all the best with your treatment .
SueR123 hello, I felt well straight after my surgery physically and mentally almost like a weight was lifted. I received the dates today my port fitted on the 15th and then chemo begins on Saturday the 25th, cannot wait to begin but nervous at the time, sooner it begins the sooner it will be over for us wishing you all the best hugs x
