Hi everyone, just got a call from the hospital and I have CT scan booked for Tuesday which means results will be available for mdt on Friday so everything seems to be moving along well which is at the moment at little overwhelming but good at the same time

thank you

  • Clinical nurse specialist has just called and my appointment is on Wednesday with the robotic surgeon specialist. I got all tearful and told her I was panicking because I was convinced it was worse news and she went through the scan results and the scan is only showing cancer confined to the womb, nothing else is showing. She did say that they still have to wait for results from hysterectomy but I’m feeling better than I’ve felt since the hysteroscopy on 15th December. Julie

  • Hi marmite, appointment is now confirmed for Wednesday with the robotic surgeon specialist to discuss next steps and vicki the clinical nurse specialist has told me the scan is showing that the cancer is confined to the womb but they still need to check biopsies following hysterectomy and nothing else is showing up on the scan so it’s good news under the circumstances and she talked with me about my thoughts worries and she said it was perfectly normal to feel like this but I’m to try and enjoy my weekend and on Wednesday it’s another step forward. But you’re right about information because as soon as she went through the scan and what to expect on Wednesday my mind felt free again so thank you x

  • Well done Julie for talking to your CNS about how you were feeling. That should make it easier for you to call her next time you’re feeling anxious. I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy but not robotic, but it’s very similar. I think robotic may involve one extra little incision. Recovery was quite quick, which was great.

  •    glad things are moving quickly and yes I remember everything whizzing by at the time i was diagnosed and having scans, there was certainly a few i wish to be off the roll-a coaster moments. Sometimes it’s best that answers come quickly though even if it makes us nervous. I hope everything goes well at your appointment, have my fingers crossed for you.

  • Hi GBear, just seen the consultant and now have a clearer picture of diagnosis. I have a high grade cancer which he described as a cancer that doesn’t behave very well and I’ve been identified as having lynch syndrome….. a lot to take in but he has said that as far as he can tell at the moment it’s still contained within the uterus which is positive but he won’t know if I will need further treatment until after histology results which I understand. He plans on doing surgery within 2 weeks which in my head seems a long time so another  waiting period.but I should get a call in the next couple of days for pre op build up.

    sending best wishes

  • I hope everyone is doing ok and trying to stay strong even though it’s hard sometimes. I have had my pre op assessment today and ok for surgery which is provisionally booked for the 21st February…. Seems a life time away but learning to be more patient each day

    sending best wishes

  • Hi Julie thanks so much for updating your story - I’ve been wondering how you are doing. I’m glad you have got the pre op over and done with and can now plan towards your op date. It may seem a long way away, but at least you have time to plan, pack, cook and freeze meals if that’s your thing (I bought ready meals and froze them lol). Have you seen the what to pack thread?

  • I pop in here most days to keep up with everyone but didn’t want to waffle on and thought I’d wait until I had news . Starting to plan now and the hospital and the team have given me a a booklet called Your passport to surgery which has a very detailed week by week countdown and a checklist, which I think is brilliant, gives me something to plan with.

  • Yes I have my Passport to Surgery to pour over with interest
