Hi

42 year old mum of one here. Just had transvaginal

ultrasound and got call from GP next morning saying I needed a hysteroscopy on 2 week cancer pathway.  I’m having one this week.

Pretty terrified.

my symptoms have been erratic bleeding, feeling of pressure, pain on hip bones, pelvic pain

thanks for reading

Thanks Marmite. I will do. It does not help the worry! I will contact PALs x

  • Hi Gazzio80 - I can empathise as the same happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Just 2 hours before my appointment I got a call to say they needed to cancel as no consultants available. They did get me back in 4 days later, but it’s so hard when you’ve got yourself mentally ready. After my Colposcopy I decided to be pro-active and call for my Hysteroscopy appointment when I hadn’t  heard - and similar response, nothing scheduled but as I had phoned the consultants PA offered me a cancellation date she had.My Hysteroscopy is tomorrow so will let you know my experience afterwards. Hope you get your appointment very soon.

  • Hello Wave

I had similar, same age and 2 children.

I was so worried about the pain and it was uncomfortable but it will be easier as you’ve had a child.  Take ibuprofen / paracetamol

mine also got cancelled after waiting there an hour as I was on my period and had to come back a few days later.

    keep us updated.

    alex xx

Good luck Ajay and yes please do pop back and let me know how you get on x

  • Thank you - will do. I hope you hear something this week, the waiting is horrible, but this group is so lovely and helps calm the runaway thoughts.

My new appointment is next Tuesday at 11. So more waiting, but at least it's a morning one this time so hopefully less chance of disruption. I have private healthcare, and I'm kinda wishing i'd used it. My GP talked me out of it as she said it's usually very quick on this pathway, but the waiting is rubbish. Hope you're ok ajay100 x

  • Hi Gazzio, as I understand it, the private sector is also very busy at the moment so you could easily have had to wait too if you’d gone private. Plus sometimes things don’t get done/reported the same way as the NHS and delays can then happen too. My health authority are quite canny in that when they book your transvaginal scan they automatically book your hysteroscopy a week after, and then cancel it if you don’t need one. Hope Tuesday comes around quickly for you. Do you know what day of the week your MDT meets?

  • Hi Gazzio80

Had my Hysteroscopy yesterday under general anaesthetic (the consultant had tried to take the biopsy at previous appointment when had ultrasound but wasn’t able to get the instrument into my womb).

All very easy and no after pain. My appointment was 7am so I was first down to theatre and home by 3pm. A bit of light bleeding yesterday and today but no pain at all. Just the wait now for the biopsy results which could be 2 weeks.

I hope your appointment goes well next week.
