Hi Everone
I have endomatroid andencarcinoma grade 2 was diagnosed on 28th Nov.Ive since had a ct scan which has been discussed at the MTD meeting I then had a call from one of my cns team with results of ct it's was good news that the cancer hasn't spread beyond the womb. And I would need a hysterectomy and that they would also remove some nyphglands.
I have my first face to face meeting with the MDT team on Christmas Eve of all days.Im now getting stressed as to exactly what we will discuss will they tell me anything bad will I need further tests before the hysterectomy?
I'm concerned that although it was good news about no spread from womb after hysterectomy they will examine the lymphnodes and my diagnoses could completely change and be worse than originally thought.
I'm worried the meeting on Wednesday is going to ruin my Christmas because ever since the phone call from the cns nurse I've been feeling more positive and a bit happier.
Ive got a feeling I'm going to be brought back down to earth with a bump.
I'm not generally a positive thinker and can feel all my stress and anxiety come rushing back again.
Hi Jane
Welcome to the womb group.
I am sorry to hear that you have had a diagnosis of endometrial cancer.
I understand that it is a worrying time.
The appointment on Christmas Eve sounds as if it will be a routine one, where they talk you through the diagnosis, give you a chance to ask any questions and also talk about the proposed treatment. It may also involve a pre op assessment ready for the hysterectomy. This is the format that my own appointment was. I was not examined during the appointment. Any further testing was pre op testing so bloods, blood pressure, ECG, BMI etc.
Jane
Hi Jane
For me, they wouldn’t say anything to me until they had done all the tests they needed. I had an MRI scan which showed an issue with a lymph node, so they asked me to have a PET scan. Even then they didn’t want to say too much about the MRI scan. So I only had my meeting following the MDT, once they had everything they needed and they could tell me next steps, I.e op and to expect follow up treatment. Mine had spread.
my meeting was with surgeon and was very brief, this is what we’ve found, quick sketch on piece of paper, this is what I’m going to do in op, further drawing on piece of paper, and then the bombshell that he had a cancellation and op was in 3 days time…
Good luck
I havent been asked to have any other tests I've had a ct scan before the mdt meeting I had a call a few days later from the cns nurse to say no spread and next step was for me to attend a face to face mtd meeting on 24th Dec where they will discuss further my results and the plan for my hysterectomy
Hello
i know it is hard not to think the worse but my experience is that they do the scans decide the type of hysterectomy based on the scans and then once had your hysterectomy it takes several weeks to biopsy and then give you your actual staging etc.
I really think this meeting will be to discuss the results face to face and discuss the hysterectomy operation.
For me the scans came back as stage 3 grade 3 and because of that I had an open hysterectomy where they removed 2 lymph nodes but after the hysterectomy I was downgraded to Stage 1a still with Grade 3.
I have now elected to have 3 rounds of Brachytherapy which start on 30th December to help prevent the cancer coming back especially as mine was high grade, I could have decided to just to monitor.
If you are feeling anxious about the meeting call your cancer specialist nurse on Monday and I am sure they will talk you through what to expect for your face to face meeting but as Jane said this sounds like a routine appointment ahead of your op.
This is a tough time in your journey but there is help and support out there xx
Thank you for your reply it's just me over thinking stuff I think I always do.Its just I felt such a relief when I was told there was no spread outside the womb and have been more positive since but I think as the meeting gets closer I'm just getting a little stressed again and I've been on Google I know I shouldn't and have been reading that after the hysterectomy and when they take some of the nymphnodes then the diagnoses can change for the worse and a low stage could then become a higher stage if it's found to have spread to nearby nodes.
