Hi all. Hope everyone is well and enjoying the weather. Just a quick question to ask of u lovely people. Had my hysterectomy on Thursday and been hit by a wall of fatigue. I'm assuming this is normal as we are healing but just wanted to see if it was common. Also bladder pain anyone ?
Hi again Sharon, I think the tiredness can come from relief from finally having the op after all the tests and waiting, plus the general anaesthetic can take a while to fully leave our systems. Also, the wonders of laparoscopic/robotic surgery can make us forget we’ve had major surgery! After my op, i tended to do things in the morning, then found I needed to flake in the afternoon. No bladder pain, just a few bowel twinges as my system got up and running again.
Hi. Thank you. Yes I'm ok in morning but crash about 2ish haha. I think my hysterectomy was fine but due to to other issues (I have a colostomy bag, plus had problems with catheter in surgery), it's simply that that's giving me pain. Sure it'll abate. Thank you for your reply x
Hi Shloha
Its very early days after a major op. I remember feeling the fatigue hit suddenly. I think the anaesthetic had a part to play and also the pain relief given in hospital. I think also there is the physical trips back and forwards to the hospital pre surgery and all the testing and worrying can catch up with us. Also a bit of relief that the surgery is done.
Rest up, drink lots and make sure you are eating ok. I found little and often better.
I remember feeling a bit uncomfortable around my bladder but I wouldn't say it was pain. However the surgery is done there is a lot of rummaging about and then the settling of everything back into its new place now that the womb etc has been removed.
If you look on your discharge paperwork then there should be a number to call if you are worried. If the pain continues or becomes worse then I would recommend you give them a call.
I wish you well for your continued recovery and we are here if you need us.
Jane
