So it looks like my surgery will happen in the next 2 weeks and my question is as I’m also having my ovaries removed during my hysterectomy I’m told I will get surgical menopause symptoms. I was lucky not to experience any symptoms during my normal menopause and was wondering how long I will have these symptoms for and how did anyone else feel after they had their own surgery? My surgeon didn’t seem to want me to go down the HRT route. Is anyone taking evening primrose and does it really help? Thanks x

  • Hi Meenamoo, Have you got your operation date yet? mine is 26th June. There going to do keyhole day surgery

  • Hey so sorry I’m crap at replying! So I’ve experienced both keyhole and open surgery now first was open and a total hysterectomy with fallopian tubes and my most recent a keyhole to remove ovaries! Recovery for both was pretty similar although the open hysterectomy took longer to get my energy back! With my ovaries I felt very much the same still got a lot of monthly symptoms without the periods. Now 6 weeks out from ovary removal I feel level hormonally but get hot flushes especially in the evening! Everything settled down within 3/4 weeks post op but I tire easily and still have to be careful as it is a dull ache. Defiantly be guided by your own body wishing you all lots of love and speedy recovery Heart️‍
