Extreme fatigue

Hi All

Is it usual to feel extreme fatigue before any cancer treatment has even started, or is it an indication that the cancer is already advanced? I don’t feel shocked or stressed oddly enough, just really fatigued. I’ve been diagnosd with grade 3 endometrial cancer and my MRI is tomorrow.

  • Hi Lemonpip, for me, the whole experience was emotionally draining and exhausting. I personally don’t think it relates to the cancer spreading, but to the overall overwhelmingness of it all.

  • I hope you’re feeling lots better now Marmite. I’m wondering if reality will kick in once I have my MRI results back maybe.

  • I agree with Marnitefan the whole process even before treatment is exhausting, The constant waiting for the next scan or test then the results then appointments. All that plus my sleep was disturbed due to worry,

all I would say is be kind to yourself. I was lucky I was able to go off sick from work straight away plus I’ve only had to have a hysterectomy and I don’t need any further treatment. I’m now 5 weeks post hysterectomy and some days still by the afternoon I’m tired .

  • Hi Lemonpip

I would think that it could well be the emotional impact of it all, the appointments, the waiting for results, the preparing for scans. It can feel a bit like the rug has been pulled out from under your feet. The not knowing and wondering what is ahead is hard. I remember feeling pretty exhausted by it all. Also having the physical symptoms such as bleeding is bound to have an effect.

Good Luck for tomorrow for your MRI and I hope you do not have to wait too long for the results.

    Jane
