It's been a week since I had my biopsy and the mirena coil fitted.
I am fed up with the heavy bleeding and serious discomfort. I have a chronic pain condition so I'm not shy when it comes to pain thresholds but I'm struggling.
Is this normal and expected?
I had the mirena fitted 2 weeks ago on Friday as well as polyp removal and I stopped my provera due to now having the coil.
I am also in a lot of discomfort and bleeding, I have rung up my department today and they have told me to wait 2 week before ringing back so I will be ringing again on Friday to see what they say. (Not sure what difference 2 days is going to make but I will follow what they say).
I would ring up and see what they say but I'm assuming they will probably give same advice and wait 2 weeks as it also says on my paperwork if problems persistent after 2 weeks seek advice. but saying that I'm unsure of your situation.
It can take time for your body to adjust to the mirena coil from what I've seen but I can't find a ton of information on it either and no one i know has had it so can't get advice off anyone I personally know.
It is very annoying and stressful especially when these things should be helping us but we are still having to deal with bleeding and pain, it's like a constant reminder something is not right.
Hope all goes well and you can get some advice
I'm on the list already for a hysterectomy due to endometriosis, so cancer or no cancer that's my end goal.
I understand that them fitting the mirena is a head start on treatment whilst waiting for biopsy results but I'd rather do without any HRT if this is what is going to do.
I've been bleeding now for about 9 weeks, it's taking over my life, its draining me and I'm really fed up.
Hope you get some answers on Friday x
I've got my GP phoning 9am tomorrow and I've left a message for the gynae clinic too.
Sending hugs x
I have had the mirena coil for over 4 months and apart from some light bleeding for a couple of months, I am fine on it. Hardly know it's there! It can cause bleeding in order to shed the excess womb lining if it's thick apparently, so it does its job that way. The only thing I've had an issue with is sometimes it causes menopause symptoms, like hot flushes but overall it's been fine. Next check-up in 3 weeks. Hope it all settles down for you soon.
