Hi, I had a hysterectomy including overies removal in February, they said that they confident that it hadn’t spread anywhere else so didn’t need other treatment. I haven’t had my 4 month checkup yet, not sure what they do or if I need any scans or anything. Getting off the subject sorry, I have never had COVID and did not have any vaccinations, I just didn’t go anywhere for 3 years and wore masks to all appointments. So my question is, do I have a weakened immunity due to the cancer or am I of full health (well aside from my other illnesses) I know covid is on the rise, I have been unwell for over a week. I never get coughs but it’s really bad, my head is very hot to touch but only 37.8 to 38.1 I’ve been taking flu plus but they don’t seem to work, I keep feeling really queezy and sick. I took a covid test a few days ago which was negative (I’ve never taken one of these rapid test so have no idea if I did it right) how often should I take one ? If I get a positive result, do I inform my GP ? (I never like to bother them) Should I inform my CNP or is it CNS I forget, my brains gone to mush. I’m sorry, this probably makes no sense at all, just sometimes the NHS website doesn’t always make sense either. Any advice would be gratefully received, thank you
Hello DebsGJ62
I was also told that I had weakened immunity due to having cancer but the risk was more for the chemotherapy.
As you are feeling unwell, I would personally contact your GP or NHS111 for advice. Even though you have tested negative, if you have been unwell for over a week and are still not feeling right then this is time for a check.
I have 12 weekly checks with my CNS and have had covid several times. I only informed the hospital during active treatment (chemo/radiotherapy) - the other times- I informed my GP.
Hope you can be seen and are feeling better soon.
Jane
Hi.
I'd suggest you do a 2nd Covid test a few days after the 1st. Early WHO reports stated it can take upto 14 days to show.
If you do have Covid, depending on how weak your immune system is, you may be encouraged to take antivirals to reduce complications. I was given 5 days of Paxlovid.
I would ask GP, pharmacist or NHS 111 for advice as they can consider along with any other health conditions you have.
I hope you feel better soon and maybe a hot lemon + honey drink could be soothing?
