Hello, I was diagnosed with stage 1 endometrial cancer last monday and am waiting for a date for a radical hysterectomy. I had very low iron levels in june and was given intravenous iron infusions. Iron levels are now good but I am just exhausted no matter how much I sleep. Has anyone rlse experienced this? I'm just concerned as I sm strughling to get through the working day.

  • Hello Doodle74

Welcome to the Online Community and the Womb group.

I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of endometrial cancer.

Fatigue is hard to cope with. When did you last have your blood tested? I know through my treatments I had low levels of haemoglobin on and off and although a transfusion would help for a while, they did tend to drop again.

I wonder also whether the fatigue could be trying to cope with the stress of the diagnostic tests and coming to terms with the diagnosis. I know I felt pretty exhausted by the time I had my actual diagnosis. If talking things through would help, then please do give the Support Line a call.

I would suggest contacting your GP in the morning and getting an appointment to talk about the fatigue. There maybe other causes other than the iron levels and there may be something that can be offered to help. How is your diet? Are you eating enough- just a thought.

I will pop a link below that may help.

  • Thanks jane251. I will try to get in contact with the GP tomorrow. I am eating ok but it could perhaps be the stress.

  • I remember feeling really fatigued during the testing and diagnosis. Its hard to focus on much else. I used to come home from work and just want to sleep. However much I slept- I was still tired. If it is to do with all the emotions of it, then I started to feel a bit better once I knew what was going to happen and when. it was a sort of feeling in limbo time.
