I was diagnosed womb cancer stage 1 in Jan 23 and i had my hysterectomy on 14th Feb. All is going well; however, I have been feeling numbness in my thighs and recently experienced burning sensation. Has anyone experienced that? Would be helpful if someone share some advice please. Many thanks

  • Hi NSL

This is something that I would encourage you to contact your CNS/GP about. Did you just have surgery or did you have any chemo or radiotherapy? Sometimes the treatments can leave you with some neuropathy. I do get these symptoms but I had chemo and radiotherapy and they are from that.

I would advise you to get checked out with any new symptoms. Do you have check ups?

You could give the Support Line a call and talk it through with one of the nurses, the number is below.

  • Thanks Jane for your reply.
luckily, I didn’t need chemotherapy or radiotherapy. I had my surgery on 14 Feb. The symptoms are becoming worse. I had called my GP and she prescribed another pain relief. I am going to call my cancer nurse tomorrow and see what she says.

  • Definitely worth getting checked. The numbness and burning sensations are similar to what I get from the neuropathy. I know mine is from the chemo. I have not heard people having it from the surgery alone, but we are not medically trained.

Good idea to contact your CNS and I wonder whether they may offer a you a scan. If it is some form of neuropathy then normal painkillers do not tend to make much difference but they can offer a different type.

Good Luck and let us know how you get on

  • Hi Jane,

I spoke with the nurse yesterday, and she informed me that the numbness was caused by the removal of the lymph nodes. It will get better in the coming weeks.

  • That's positive news then- hopefully will start to ease for you over the next couple months
