Hello
Just wanted to check in. I found very good post op advice on the Hysterectomycentre uk website. (Hope its ok to put this up) other websites offer great info too.
I am feeling much better this week. Had antibiotics last week for a slight belly button infection. This made me feel less anxious.
I have found that eating regular meals and drinking lots of fluid helps with bowels/bladdrer issues. It still hurts when i pee.
I am not enjoying sleeping on my back. Also I cant wait to drive but i dont feel ready.
My results were good. No further action as cancer hadnt spread out side the uterus. Dont know if this is just me but i feel i need to get checked out for other cancer as im obese (Breast and bowel).
I also feel for others who need further treatment.
As always thank you for your support and advice.
Sleeping on my back has driven me mad, aside for the 5 weeks (today) since my hysterectomy I had 4 weeks on my back prior to that with a broken arm…I’m still mainly sleeping on my back but can sleep on my side for a short time now (not for long as my arm starts hurting), I still have a bleeding wound which started a week after my op (huge haematoma), i think at long last we are getting near to the wound totally closing now and hopefully that will be the last of my problems….wish I could say the same about my arm but sadly that’s going to take months and months!
Hi Foliage, great news that you don’t need any further treatment! Have you told your CNS or the ward that it still hurts when you pee? I would suggest that you ask your CNS about a “life after cancer” course which most of not all hospitals run. Most women who are told no adjuvant treatment needed have mixed feelings - obviously pleased but then also sometimes a bit guilty and also a bit anxious about being “cast adrift” after all this time of scans, tests, op and attention. This may be what’s behind your thoughts re breast/bowel checks. Presumably you’re up to date with mammograms? Did you have an MRI or CT pre hysterectomy?
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
