Hi sorry if on wrong thing as still only waiting diagnosis
I am 56 post menopausal and have recently had an urgent appointment with gynaecologist which turned out to be Hysteroscopy. After getting dressed was told to wait to speak to doctor who was not clear in how she spoke but basically advised my womb was so dysdented that they couldn’t do what they wanted to do. But what they did see was of high concern and I would have to immediately stop my hrt until they had my results back. I have one large fibroid (previously checked) but has grown 50% in last year plus several new small ones in myometrium only symptom is bleeding . I am beside myself with worry because she has said high risk and immediately stop HRT. Am I over worrying and this is just standard checks as I had before a year or so ago.
again let me know if this is not the place to ask this
Hello Jay7773
Welcome to the Online Community. It is absolutely fine to post on here. It does not matter whether or not you have or have not had any diagnosis- you are concerned about womb cancer- so it's the right place.
I am sorry that you are feeling worried since your hysteroscopy and I can understand that it must have been a shock for the doctor to say that when you thought it was standard checks. It may still be standard checks but your doctor is erring on the side of caution. With anything that is happening in your womb, hormones may be affecting it, so the safest thing for them to suggest, while you are waiting for results is to stop the HRT. It can be difficult to take in what is being said after such a procedure especially when the doctor is not clear.
It is good that the fibroid you have was checked last year and although it has grown there may be reasons other than cancer. The smaller ones could again be fibroids but the biopsy is the only way to know for sure. It is good that the only sign you have is bleeding and it is routine for any bleeding to be checked. I can understand it is worrying to be told it could be high concern but if it is it is far better to know for sure. Once the results come back hopefully the doctors will be able to come up with a treatment plan for you, whether the fibroids turn out to be benign or cancer.
If talking it through would help then I can recommend the Support Line. The number is below and they are lovely on there.
I hope that your results come through quickly and are reassuring. In the meantime if you need anything please just ask. There are many lovely ladies on this forum who have been where you are now. It is always a worrying time having tests and waiting for results and we all understand that.
