I read this Macmillan forum blog post recently and found it insightful and helpful, and so wanted to share it here. I just wondered if any of us here have encountered this well-intentioned but toxic positivity by others about our cancer:

Hi MarmiteFan59
I did read this and found it very interesting. I'd not heard of toxic positivity before but it puts into perspective, comments that we all find aggravating. My current bugbear is the assumption that I am still the same person that I was pre cancer. I worked full time, was permanently stressed and as such did not tolerate fools easily. I would hope that my illness has taught me something and that I am now calm, kind and not as quick to judge. I find it mildly insulting that people don't realise that my life bears no resemblance to what it used to be so how could I remain unchanged by my experience.
Rant over! Hope you are well marmite.
