I was told on 20 June I had Endometrial Cancer. I’d had bleeding every day since end of September 2022 and hip pain started in January. Having fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis in hips I didn’t associate the pain with the bleeding.
The GP referred me to the hospital where I had an ultrasound scan done on my womb but they couldn’t see anything abnormal and said it was probably vaginal dryness. Next was an appointment for a hysteroscopy and they took biopsy that was 13 April. From there referred to urology and they looked straight into my bladder but there was nothing wrong.
The phone call on 20 June was a complete shock and not expected at all. CT scan & 2nd biopsy the following day. Waiting for the results and hopefully a treatment plan which fingers crossed should be this week.
Tried to call CNS however she wasn’t there on Friday and they don’t work on Monday. I’m worried that it’s 10 months since this all started and I’ve left it too late. Has anyone else had to wait this long for answers.
I previously worried about my mental health but it seems to have improved since my last post and I’m thinking more clearly.
Hi Grandma03, hopefully you will be able to reach your CNS today for some support and reassurance. They may even be able to tell you what day you should hear. The waiting is very difficult and I’d say all of us find it tough. Just to say the pain may be nothing to do with the bleeding. Many of us here had no pain at all (including me) and felt entirely well before diagnosis. I looked and felt well all the way through! Once you know the plan, it should help.
Hello Grandma03
I am sorry to hear that you have had a diagnosis of endometrial cancer. It is always a worrying and stressful time while being diagnosed and then waiting for the results from scans etc.
My own diagnosis was April last year and I can remember how anxious I felt at the time but there are lots of lovely ladies on here who will want to offer you support so please feel free to post as much as helps on here. In my own case I did actually feel a bit better once I had all the results back and had met with my oncologist to come up with a treatment plan. Once you know what is going to happen it does make you feel a little more in control.
Hopefully you will be able to get in touch with your CNS today or someone else there who will be able to answer your questions. What normally seems to happen is when they have all the results together there is an MDT meeting where all the doctors etc get together and discuss the best form of treatment and then they would call you to come in to go through everything. Sometimes once the results come through and they have had the discussion things can move forward quite quickly. I saw my consultant for the first time on a Friday lunchtime, had my pre ops on the Friday pm and my hysterectomy on the Monday am. By Tuesday lunchtime I was home.
If you would like any more information then your CNS is your first port of call. I would advise staying away from google as a lot of the information is out of date. I will pop a link below with some Macmillan info that may be of some help when you see the oncologist so are a bit prepared and can ask questions. I was given the same booklet when I was diagnosed and I found it helpful.

I hope this helps a bit and I hope that your results come through quickly so you can find out what happens next. In the meantime if you feel speaking to someone else would help, I can recommend the Support Line - the number is below.

Hi Grandma03, sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It is a shock receiving this news especially when it's in a phone call rather than a face to face consultation. It sounds like all your additional checks have progressed quite quickly so, hopefully, you will be hearing soon about your treatment plan. I saw the consultant about 2 weeks after I'd had my CT and MRI scan. The waiting is stressful but once I knew that I had a plan I felt more reassured. My CNS has been very helpful from diagnosis through treatment to the follow-up stage. They are not always immediately available to answer your call but if you leave a message they quickly get back to you.
Hi Grandma 03
I am very sorry that you have been given this shocking news, and I echo all the other messages you've received on here with regards to your plan of action. It may seem the worst thing ever at the moment, but you soon learn to accept it, so you can deal with things. You are not alone!
When you are ready, ask as many questions as you like and get rid of negative thoughts that can quite easily start to haunt you.
There are lots of lovely people on here who truly understand how you feel and where you're coming from. You will amaze yourself as to where you find the strength and courage to face this trauma.
Take care and keep us informed.
Helen xx

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long. The waiting is tough because you don't know how long it is for. I actually called my GP in the end who was able to chase things up for me. If there is anything that would be helpful to know while you are waiting please ask
