Thankyou for taking the time to reply .I now don’t have to wait the 8/9 weeks to see my consultant now as I’ve been called back to the hospital next week.Is this a good thing or a bad thing? .I can’t honestly think this is good ,my husband disagrees Surely I wouldn’t be called in to say everything’s fine, so therefore it’s still say the cancer has spread or is aggressive ? I just don’t know
At least I haven’t got all those weeks to wait now just till Tuesday .
Hello Elaine1903
It is natural to worry when something unexpected happens but I would try not to worry too much. Next week it will be about 3 weeks from when you had your hysterectomy and that seems to be about the length of time it takes for pathology to come back. Mine was 3 1/2 weeks but it was Easter bank holiday weekend. Some consultants seem to prefer seeing you in person to give the results whereas some give the option of being told by phone. I opted for the phone call. It is good that you do not have to wait 8/9 weeks.
It may well be that your consultant is one that likes to see people in person and may want to check how you are recovering from your surgery. It may be to check your wounds are healing or to take blood. ( I was seen at around 5 weeks post op) It may be to talk about options. Sometimes a little more treatment is needed, sometimes it could be regular check ups. But my consultant always preferred to see people and give them time to talk. I would advise not to automatically think the worst but try to hold on till Tuesday which is not too far ahead. It's hard, I know.
Good luck and let us know how you get on. In the meantime if there is anything else you need, please ask
Jane
Hi Elaine1903, it's understandable that you're concerned but there could many reasons why the appointment has been brought forward. It may be a simple admin matter. An 8/9 week wait does seem a very long time which could be very stressful. I saw my surgeon 10 days after my hysterectomy when she confirmed my post op histology results. She also had a quick look at my tummy to check the incision wound was healing properly. We spoke about further treatment and she asked if I would like to see the oncologist to discuss this further. My cancer was very early stage 1a but as it was grade 3 I decided to take up her offer. After talking to the oncologist I opted to have brachytherapy. I think we all get anxious before any follow up appointments but try not to worry about the 'what ifs'. Hope you will feel more reassured once you've seen the consultant. x
Hi Elaine, I agree with SH53, 8-9 weeks seemed a monstrously long time to wait - it may not have been their ideal, and may have been originally that time to someone being on leave for example. It could well that be they’ve been able to bring it forward to what would be the normal wait as things now have changed. Please do let us know how you get on.
Hi Elaine, glad to see that your waiting time has come down from 8 weeks, that's more like it. The speed of your appointment doesn't have to mean bad news. Have a great weekend visualising the doctor saying they've got it all. No need to worry until you have something to worry about,
Fingers crossed for you that all is well
Thankyou for taking the time to reply .I am trying to stay positive x
