Anyone looking for holiday insurance I got joint one trip holiday insurance with my husband for£87.48 with Holidayrisk. I had grade2 stage 1B with vascular invasion womb cancer.I had 6 cycles of chemotherapy and 3 brachytherapy, treatment was all completed the end December. I declared my cancer and my arthritis,my husband has no underlying conditions. The insurance was for 11 days in Tenerife. I was quoted silly prices while getting treatment. Hope this will be helpful to some of you looking for insurance.

  • Thank you for this Hawthorn. I haven’t booked a trip just yet.  I have my second Oncology follow up on 8th June and was waiting to see that everything was still ok as I have a fear of becoming ill while abroad. I was grade 2 stage 1a, luckily no further treatment needed. Since my diagnosis I also had momentary vision loss in one eye, despite all tests being clear,  because of my age they say it was probably a mini TIA so I have to declare that now as well! I will give Holidayrisk a try as a dummy run on All Clear gave me a very basic quote of just shy of £170.00 for a single trip.

  • ChrissyG,I think you are doing the right thing and waiting. I thought I would have been fine for going away in May but I found the airport, flight, transfer all stressful. It took me the first three days of the holiday to calm down,I did go on to enjoy the next 7 days. I thought my fitness was back to normal but found out it wasn’t,we love walking on holiday and I couldn’t do half as much walking as I would usually do on holiday. I have put weight on since my treatment so I don’t think that’ll have helped.

Hope all goes well for your with your oncology appointment on the 8th. I’ve got a MRI on the 7th June then I see the oncologist on the 21st June. So I hope it’s all good news.xx

  • That's a good price. It's helpful to get recommendations. I had a hysterectomy  in October 2022 followed by brachytherapy in December for stage 1a grade 3 endometrial cancer. Did you need a 'fit to travel' letter for your insurance company? I understand it's sometimes requested. Hope you have a lovely holiday!,

  • Just read this post & realised you've already had your holiday, another senior moment! Glad you enjoyed it after the first few days.

  • Hi Sh53,I have those senior moments all the time the now.Lol. No I didn’t need a fit to travel letter and they didn’t ask for any proof that my treatment was finished. I take it if I had made a claim they would have checked that everything I declared was true before paying out.
