Scared - diagnosis

Hello everyone,

I can't sleep and this seemed like one of the more productive things I could do. I suspect I have womb cancer though no confirmation. Abnormal mass found, initial opinion was nothing to worry about, then ca125 came back high and I've been booked for a CT scan next week. That's all I know.

Am 44. Terrified and have constant pelvic pain for last few days.

Would love to hear from anyone with a similar experience or going though the same at the moment.

Wishing everyone the best

X

  • Hello and welcome  , although I am so sorry to hear about your worries and it’s all perfectly normal and understandable. Waiting for results is definitively the pits and such a stressful time. The pain in the pelvic i had for a long time, unfortunately for myself i had a long wait for diagnosis due to my age being 36 at the time and that i also had fibroids, i was having constant bleeds and very irregular periods and pain i knew something was a miss due to being always very regular with my periods. But unfortunately my worries were dismissed for many months but i am so glad that you obviously are getting things checked and i hope that your CT will give a clearer answer and that treatment is sorted quickly. I am so glad you reached out to the community as i know there is some newly diagnosed and others waiting on tests at different stages. We all understand exactly how you’re feeling and it’s a very worrying time and unknowns to what the abnormal mass is. Believe me when i say this the lovely ladies here will make you very welcome and will support you along the way so please feel free to share your story in your profile page and here and to ask questions because everyone has been where you are now.

  • Hi

Thank you so much for replying. It means a lot.

I have had fibroids etc too and wondered if that masked something sinister

I don't know how I'm going to get through the week til my CT scan. Just keeping my fingers crossed it's not the worst of the worst.

    Gentle hugs to you too

    Xx

  • Waiting is definitely the worst part of this whole thing. But once you have a clear diagnosis it is so much easier to deal with however hard it is to hear. The not knowing makes you think of allsorts and inevitably worst case scenario. Having cancer isn’t a death sentence. It can be treated. Once your scan results are known your team should explain what will happen next. Until then try and concentrate on the things you enjoy, little things that you value and make you happy. This doesn’t have to define your life. You will get through it but you just have to take one step at a time. Good luck and do let us know how you get on.

  • Hi Hats79

I'm currently with you at the unknown stage. I've had CT, followed by Ultrasound and TV. Then had hysteroscopy with biopsy, for which biopsy results are delayed due to backlogs.

My CT scan was swift and easy, with radiologist explaining what was seen as they went, which I was very grateful for.

Hope your's goes well. Fingers crossed

  • Thank you so much for replying  . It's so hard waiting isn't it. I know I need to find ways of distracting myself but it's a real struggle. Wishing you all the best for your scan xx
