Hello Ladies
Things have been OK and scans on ovaries have been fine, all is going to plan(ish) but I've remained very irritated and uncomfortable. At my last Oncology check-up my consultant did a swab test and it came up for 'heavy growth of thrush'. No problem she said. Take Fluconazole and internal pessary and that should sort it. It didn't, so I went to GP and got a double hit of fluconazole. That didn't clear it. So was put on a lower, longer dose of a week.
Since then I've been suffering from flu-like symptoms for around a month and my test results just came back and they're worse than ever to the point I'm going to end up getting referred back to gynae. So this looks like it's resistant to anti-fungals. Going for blood tests tomorrow and my nurse is going to try and find out the strain.
It's coming up to a year since my hysterectomy (can't believe it!) And to be honest, feeling so uncomfortable and still having no dignity is really making me low. It's like a constant reminder and I'm bubbling away like a beer brewing. I constantly feel run down.
Im pretty sure this is as a result of surgery as I never suffered from thrush before
Im wondering if anyone here has had similar and if so, how they managed to bite it in the bud!?
Thanks, as always!
Hi Cakenport
I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems. I'm guessing this might not be a common problem due to the lack of replies. I'm not surprised that it is getting you down, it's very uncomfortable. From my own experience, have you been on antibiotics lately? I know you've said you'd been under the weather with flu like symptoms, this could be a sign that your immune system is low which may explain the overgrowth of thrush? I knew someone who was advised by their Practice Nurse to iron their underwear as the high temperature stops the recurring cycle. Its just a few tips and I'm sorry I don't have all the answers for you. I hope you get sorted soon.
A x
Thanks for your reply . I have been to see a lovely practice nurse yesterday and have had a few bloods taken etc. I've not been on antibiotics but she mentioned about this too. Think I've got her attention and she seems on a mission!
She's a bit concerned as I have bubbling and UTIs and has asked Oncology consultant whether I need another CT scan to check I don't have a fissure as a result of surgery. Also waiting to hear back from lab on the variant as it's uncharacteristically resistant. My samples were taken very soon after a long course.
Oh I always iron my pants anyway! I'm an ironing obsessive but I'll be sure to give the crotch an extra press and maybe take the washing machine temp up a notch. Thank you for your tips.
