Hello, I had an appointment at the Christie on Tuesday, 3 weeks post op check and to receive my histology report, found recovering from the hysterectomy easier than I expected, unfortunately I was staged 1A serous pre op, and now they have told me a few cells have escaped into my fallopian tube which now means my grade is 3A. I was very upset at the time but I’m clinging on to the fact they told me my lymph nodes and everywhere else is clear, my MRI and CT and mammogram show no spread into other organs. I will need chemo radiotherapy and brachytherapy. My surgeon said consider yourself cancer free we got it all, this is a preventive measure to stop it coming back and with serous type cancer it’s rare and aggressive, you can live for many years and beat it. I battled breast cancer 13 and 11 years ago so I know I can do this, sadly I also know how hard it can be. Im just extremely sad feel lonely but I’m ready and each day I feel more positive, they want me to heal a little longer. I should get another appointment in a week or so, good luck to all you lovely ladies x
Hi Holly- I had adjuvant chemo and radiotherapy- although not any brachytherapy. Chemo was May to August. Radio was August/September. This week i had my first post treatment check up and all is fine. Before treatment it felt an impossible journey but once treatment started it went quicker than expected. Reach out to people on here- we have all been there. Good luck with your treatment
Hi Holly, thanks for updating us! I sense your disappointment and feel for you, but am proud of you for being pragmatic. Just a quick question - are you having chemo and radio separately or chemoradiation? If it’s the latter it’s different (as it’s combined) and I can tag a group member who had that treatment last year. Thinking of you as you wait for your next appointment.
Dear Holly, I’m so sorry you’ve had this news. I’ve been told I’m grade 3 too with an aggressive type but they can’t tell me if it’s serous or clear cell or mixed until after my hysterectomy etc is done and analysed. Three week wait like you’ve had before I will know. At the moment they say I’m stage 1A with no spread. I had breast cancer 16 years ago too, this whole thing is hideous but you are not alone and we will get through this cancer like we did before x
Thankyou Marmitefan59 your words are a comfort, I’m unsure as yet but I think I remember 6 chemo then 20 radiotherapy and 2 rounds of brachytherapy were mentioned in that order x
Hi Holly and so sorry that the histology has changed but a good thing as there's no spread and another that they're going to throw everything at it. Sounds like they're missing no chances so that's a big positive. I'm sad ghat you're going through this again ( it's bad enough once) but you CAN do this again and I wish you well ob your full recovery from this all. You know we are always here when you need a shoulder or to share your triumph! Take care xx
It was tough at times but it was doable. There were times where there were wobbles but at those times reach out to others. Feel free to message me at anytime or post on here- I found the ladies on here invaluable
