I am petrified my cancer has spread further. I am about to have round 3 of 6 chemo, this means mid treatment checks. I've had a 'bulge' near my belly button for a while...it's 4am and I am now full of complete panic that it is a terrible sign. Could it be distended womb??? Or am I kidding myself? My diagnosis is grade 3, stage 4 with extensive spread in pevic area and traces in my lungs. I have no idea if my lumpy abdomen is spread, but that should have been detected with full body CT in Oct/Nov??? So scared! Could this be something else? I don't have mid chemo CT until 31st with results on 8th. has anybody else had this?

  • Have you got a cancer nurse specialist you can call? They may be able to access your notes and reassure you? The nurses that looked after me were lovely when I needed them. Just a thought as it is horrible when you get that panicky feeling

  • Hi  Why not give your Oncologist's secretary a call and explain the anxiety you're going through. Also call your CNS for reasurrance. I would assume your scan would have shown something so give your team a call'

  • Thank you. Just spoken to one of the amazing nurses, she suggested GP to see if it is a hernia! Not sure I would have been relieved about the possibility of a hernia before!

  • That's brilliant- I think it's better to talk to them than sit and worry. I have found with my journey the slightest niggle I always think the worst. Take care

  • It's completely understandable to worry about changes in your body. I'm sure we've all been there agonising about a new or different ache or pain. I've found the CNS and the Nurse Practioner at my GP's both very patient and reassuring. They have always put my mind at rest, hopefully yours will do the same.
