Hello ,new here,i went to my doctor as when i had smear test, it was hurting and the woman told me its because i had a prolapse,(i have no idea what is prolapsed) so i went to my GP and she examined me,and asked if i was on my period,i told her no ,not for 5 years, she said i was bleeding quite a bit,and that she would send me to the gyno clinic to just rule out anything serious!
i went and had a scan, then had to go in for a camera inserted cant remember the name sorry, the doctor could not do it as it was so uncomfortable and did not help with prolapse,so i have to go in under a general anesthetic, im sure i heard her mention leisons too ,so was worried about that ,she asked me "do you know why your here ?"and i said not really, she said my uterus lining should read 4mm mine is slightly above at 4.4mm so we have to investigate,i asked for what and she said cancer of the uterus. To say i was shocked is an understatement.she gave me no futher information and i just sat in my car and cried.
Iv had to chase up the appointment as she is on leave and not put me on any list to have the general anesthetic
i remember i went to my doctor in Nov 2019 as i bled after using an adult toy !(sorry just being honest) and had a scan and blood tests in jan 2020 and all was fine ,and uterus lining was 3.5 mm
so is 4.4 bad what is the scale ? has it got bigger fast ? or slow ?im a single foster carer so i dont know if i would have bled after sex?
i only had some blood in aug this year just once after i went to the loo ,nothing else.
But im so worried as my back has been hurting(but i have new mattress, but is it due to prolapse or something else ?)
I go for my pre op 9th Dec and general on 13th Dec
can anyone please advise or just shed any light?
Sorry for the long read,Thanks for getting this far x
Hi I love cake, i have just noticed that you have not had a response yet so welcome to our group in what we all understand is a worrying time for you. I assume, maybe wrongly, that as you haven’t had a period for five years that you are post menopausal so any amount of blood or pink spotting has to be investigated. The procedure you are due to have on 13 December is probably a hysteroscopy which many of us on this forum have had, some under general anaesthetic. If you type hysteroscopy or thickened lining into the search at the top of this page you will find lots of posts about our experiences. Also if you click onto any of our names you will find our profiles which may also help you. xx
Hi I love cake,
I'm sorry you're going through this, I also had a trans vaginal ultrasound which showed thickening of the endometrium, so am waiting to see the gynaecologist. The thickness of the endometrium varies greatly depending on whether you've been through the menopause or not, and at what part of your menstrual cycle you're in. My ultrasound showed a thickening of 16mm, but this is potentially not actually that thick as depending on what part of my cycle I'm in them a measurement of up to 15mm can be normal.
I really hope you get some answers soon, the waiting is the worst part X
hi thank you for replying ,im 55 and post menapausal ,l have had lower back ache and my prolapse (whatever is prolapsed ?)feels like it is falling out ! totally agree waiting is the worst,i hope too that you find out soon so you can get to enjoy the festive season x
Hi just to add to Walkingladys reply and to explain prolapse:
Pelvic organ prolapse is when 1 or more of the organs in the pelvis slip down from their normal position and bulge into the vagina.
It can be the womb (uterus), bowel, bladder or top of the vagina.
Hope this helps, it can be very worrying and maybe is the cause of the backpain. You will hopefully get more answers when you go to the pre op appointment. X
Thank you,im hoping that is why i have back pain, she said it was not my womb as i thought that was what it was ,hence i had no idea about anything else falling down ;0( im thinking can it really fall out ? but i will askl on 9th Dec when i have pre op,im also wondering if they will just remove what ever is falling down ?im so naive but thank you for replying x
hi thank you for the welcome, yes its a hysteroscopy under general as they could not do it whislt i was awake too painful for me. thank you for the tips i will do that now
