What is the longest time you've had to wait for your post-op histology report? It's three weeks to the day since I had my total hysterectomy and BSO.
I was told it would be two weeks before I got the report. Am getting anxious about work and planning my life in general.
Hi Sabine, I had the same op as you, and I’m also still waiting - and it’s over 3 weeks. I did get a phone call yesterday, from a gynae nurse, to let me know they had all the info - they were waiting for reports from the sarcoma team in Bham (they are always late) and they were having a meeting about me and my cancer yesterday afternoon, and then they’d be in touch. I’m sure you will hear something very soon, if not, I’d phone the gynae secretary and give them a prod! It’s not fair to keep you waiting over this. Julia x
Thanks, Julia. Oh yes, I remember you went in the day before me, I think. I hope you are well and are healing ok. I really appreciate your comment. That gives me some hope. I really wish they hadn't said it would take two weeks. I'm on tenterhooks all the time. I don't want to commit to work rotas in three weeks' time until I know what's to happen. I'll get in touch with the secretary. Fingers crossed... Xx
Hi Sabine. It will be 4 weeks tomorrow since my operation - same as you. I got the histology report today. However, I did have my post op follow up appointment with the consultant on 7th November (cancelled from 31st October - as the report wasn’t ready ). Thankfully the cancer was contained in the uterus and no further treatment is necessary. I hope you hear very soon.
Hi Sabine, I’m impressed that you’ve got to three weeks without calling them to chase it! You’re more patient than I’d have been! I’d recommend calling your CNS as they should be able to see right away whether they’re back and can chase an appointment for you. Don’t be afraid to be a nuisance! If it was me I’d be calling at least every other day to chase it!
Haha, Marmite, I like your style! Yes, will do that tomorrow. X
Thank you Sabine - I’m in West London! It’s clear they are stretched to the limit wherever we are. I will give the hospital all the credit they deserve though, they were so incredibly busy it was almost like a conveyor belt of hysterectomies the day of my operation but the level of care didn’t falter. All the best with your recovery x
So, I phoned my CNS and she said they still don't have any results back yet. She'll be in touch when they are in. More patience required...
