Hi Alex, I hope your day today has been okay! What sort of thing do you mean?
Hi I just mean in terms of follow ups etc and if I should be starting HRT x
I’m sorry, I was confused as you already mentioned waiting for your histology results which is really all that happens in the next few weeks. We self refer if we have any worries or issues from the op. I was told to phone the ward if there was anything I was concerned about. One of my incisions started weeping a bit so I phoned the ward a couple of times for advice. If you haven’t already been given a date for your results appointment, you will need to wait till you receive a phone call or letter inviting you in. I was given my results date before my op, but I think that was just my consultant being super organised - he timed it to the day of the 2nd MDT meeting after my op. If you remember on which day of the week your MDT meets (probably same day that you received your diagnosis and also MRI results) it’s likely to be the same. Mine was two weeks post op, but the length of time experienced on the group can vary from about 2 to about 6 weeks. Hopefully you won’t have to wait that long. If you’ve not heard anything in a couple of weeks you can always call your CNS to see if they can give you an idea of when it might come through. At that appointment your consultant, or a registrar, will chat with you and see how you’re doing, and at mine the registrar looked at my incisions to make sure they were healing okay, but I didn’t have an internal examination, I have heard some women do. You will also get your results and will be advised if the stage has remained the same and if any adjuvant treatment is being recommended.
I’d suggest asking your CNS about HRT - my understanding is that as some endometrial cancers are hormonally driven, HRT may not be a good idea, but it would be best to seek proper advice/info on that from your CNS,
I’ve got bad diarrhoea, they did give me lactulose but only had 2 of the lowest dose and not thing today. I’m going to shower soon and relocate to downstairs for a change of scenery x
I personally don’t touch lactulose as sweeteners upset my stomach and I wonder if that’s what happened here with you. Is there a particular reason that you took it? Your bowel would naturally take a couple of days to recover after your op - I didn’t have a poo till I think 2 days later. I’d recommend keeping your diet light until it’s back to normal. Also a short gentle walk in the fresh air and sunshine - I started with 5 mins twice a day.
Hi, they prescribed me it for a week but I’m not going to take anymore! I’ll try to get out for a walk when I can leave the bathroom long enough x
I can understand them giving you something just in case no movement for 4-5 days, but the bowel can be a bit irritated and inflamed from being “shoved around” during the op (as my consultant bluntly put it in his own inimitable way!) so I think it’s worth just leaving it to rest, having a light diet (especially fruit) and getting gently walking about if you can to get things moving naturally.
Oh yes I’m not touching it now! Just did what they told me, only had 2 doses
