Hi Alex, it’s good to see you! Sorry that you’re having pain and discomfort. I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy and didn’t have any packing. Do you have a catheter? It’s not I’m possible that some of the pain/discomfort could be coming from that - it did with me. Have you been offered any pain relief? Have you asked what time the packing will be removed?
With my catheter, it was so uncomfortable that I got probably no more than 2 hours sleep in total that night - but every time they came round to do my checks I asked what was the earliest time it could come out, and then when I was told I could choose 6am or 8.30am, I chose 6am and just gritted my teeth to endure it till then. So if you could get a time out of them for your packing to come out, it might help you. There’s often a shift changeover from night to day staff at around 8 ish, so you might want to try asking if it can be removed by night staff at the end of their shift.
Morning Alex, hope you’re feeling a bit better this morning and have the packing removed soon, if not already!
Gosh I was in such a bad way last night, thanks for replying! Yes it all came out, they wasn’t emptying my back, horrible night but home soon x
Hey Alex, hope you’re home soon if not already. My night in hospital wasn’t great either, but once my catheter was out and then again once I was home, I went from strength to strength and so will you I’m sure!
