It’s so hard to believe that my op was in 2017 and now 5 years later well, i have been officially discharged from regular check ups with the gynae team, although still telephone reviews due to on going other issues that they want to be kept aware of, which is hugely reassuring to me. People may ask why well in a very honest answer I have lost trust in the medical profession yet again, even if i trust 100% my gynaecologist and team and my new specialist i am seeing over my head lesions which have reared their ugly heads again, he seems to be more of an sometimes you have to look outside the box kind of person, as i have been let down by ones who like tick boxes as some of us including myself don't always fall into the tick box candidate, the thing is I believe in people being treated as individuals as we are all different .
I was treated for my womb cancer at Liverpool women’s hospital because its the nearest specialist hospital to me and i am so glad to have had such fantastic surgeons treating me, it was an in joke about the fantastic needle work as my incision was so neat and clean and i giggle now as I remember every Doctor who looked at it afterwards were in wonder, like they never seen an incision before or scar? But it was very neat and i can definitely testify to that. I believe that because of something like that it helped hugely for me to recover from the surgery, I feel blessed and i still do to be stage 1a grade 2 i was so lucky as there was a huge delay in diagnosis around 12 months from my symptoms being reported to my Gp to finally being diagnosed and why? Well because i didn't fit into and nice even tick box as my cancer was hidden by oh it must be fibroids too it cant be cancer because of my age. Ok i was 37 at diagnoses but i have met younger ladies here so its always possible. It was a conversation i had with one of my consultants womb cancer is very common but before i was diagnosed i had no idea of it, never heard of it only ovarian and breast and cervical cancer so i was totally naive to find out i had womb cancer. My surgery was a total hysterectomy with the ovaries, Fallopian tubes, womb and cervical all removed. Being slammed in to menopause was definitely interesting but do able with people like you all who have experiences to share within the community, it allows people who are waiting on diagnosis or surgery or even chemo etc to know that there is so many around to give advice and support. Remember this no matter how you feel remember you really are not alone. There is always someone who has and having the same experience and ready to share.
i always say its so important that we celebrate success as well as support bad news, together we are stronger.
sending love and bear hugs to you all today if you need just that little bit of love and support
Congratulations on 5 years post op but sorry to hear you have other issues to deal with. I had my surgery at the women’s as well, I was diagnosed at St Helen’s hospital then sent to the women’s for surgery. Who was your surgeon? I had Mr kirwan he was lovely and must admit he was very very neat with his stitch work. X
That’s an important milestone GBear and well worth celebrating and sharing. I hope your other issues get resolved for you too.

Same here Rach_E, his lovely and very humorous too. He made me laugh when he was trying to take a stitch out that was pocking out and catching my cloths, then says try to keep still as i am proper giggling. But he was really good for calming the nerves though something hugely important in dealing with cancer.

He is lovely, I had a different doctor when I first went so didn’t meet him until the day of my surgery but he was very calming and funny. When I went back 4 weeks after surgery to see him my wound had almost healed and he was impressed. He said was happy for me to have chemo if I wanted it and he asked if I had any questions and just asked when could I sleep on my side and he just laughed and said I have never been asked that lol. X
Congratulations on your 5 years GBear , mine will hopefully be in November, all being well. I hope your other issues can be sorted out for you.
Hugs, Lesley xx
Fingers crossed LittleRunner and Poppysmum27 not long of for either of you now, hope you both doing ok.

Congratulations GBear! Glad that you can say goodbye to that even if you’ve still got some issues going on. I’ve been referred to Liverpool Women’s from Warrington. I went last week to see the consultant and have my pre op work. It sounds a really nice place and glad to be referred there. Thanks for helping to set my mind at rest. Fingers crossed for a quick date for me now. Take care x
Smellybasset, i can honestly say from my experience it’s fantastic and really put my mind at else when i was diagnosed. I actually had a pre planned two week holiday which should of been a scuba diving holiday in Egypt on a liveaboard but the doctors wouldn’t allow me medical clearance and to to be honest i know i would have struggled especially with depth etc, however they did say that for the second week when i was at resort i could dive shallow in the house reef which was great. The dive centre i had been going years they really looked after me and i booked one to one dives so i was with the instructor and the instructor i had know for years too and she is actually a qualified nurse so she took real good care for me and actually the holiday did give me a abit of distraction apart from at night when i was alone the little niggling fears came but it was nice to get a bit of a tan and build up my vitamin d before my op.
have you got a date for your op yet? I know it can be soon once you have had your pre op done. I am glad you feel your mind is at else abit. I know how scary diagnoses and the unknown etc.
sending gentle bear hugs
