Hi ladies, many of you know me from 4 years ago and you helped me so much, so I just wanted to see if you could answer some questions again for me….. my aunt has been diagnosed with endometroid carcinoma grade 3… we do not know the stage yet, I just wondered is this the same as endometrial adeno carcinoma or is it different, I really can not find much info apart from knowing that grade 3 is more aggressive , so although it’s aggressive as it’s grade 3 does the fact that it is the common cancer and not a sarcoma or clear cell etc make a difference, I know a lot about endometrial cancer after having it myself and learning from you lovely ladies, but I’m just not sure what it means being a carcinoma and not adeno carcinoma , is there a difference, it all started in a polyp apparently, I just want to learn all I can so I can understand while giving her support, any help would be much appreciated, thank you xx
Hello Lara Lou I remember you from previous posts Hope you are doing well I used to be poppydust/Petronella but had to change due to problems logging on I am not an oncologist but my understanding is that endometrioid cancer is cancer of the endometrium the lining of the womb Adenoma is the type of cancer and usually the least aggressive There is controversy about grade three which some oncologists feel should be regarded as a type 2 ie in the same category as some of the more aggressive cancers such as serous I was diagnosed with Stage 3A Grade 3 adenocarcinoma I had my total hysterectomy EIGHT YEARS ago actually yesterday and declined the offered 25 fractions of pelvic radiotherapy and I’m still here fit and well and just as awful Hope your aunt has the same good outcome Just try to be as healthy as you can and enjoy life We are living in such uncertain times who knows what tomorrow will bring
love best wishes and kind thoughts to you dear Lara Lou your aunt and all the lovely ladies on this forum
petronella xx
Hi poppy, as soon as I saw your name I knew it was you, I remember you well, I also remember your story declining the radiotherapy and I also understood why, can’t believe it was 8 years ago though although it must be as you were already half way through when I first met you, great to hear that you are doing so well my lovely, great news…..thank you for replying about my aunt, I have also heard that grade 3 was being considered as a type 2 cancer this was my confusion, that and the adeno part missing, but apparently adeno means it starts in the glands and non adeno in the skin layers etc, both start in same place but one is skin and one is glands, I am just praying that the mri and ct scans do not show it anywhere else, we think she has had it about 28 months which worries me at a grade 3 level, thanks again poppy, take care xx
Hi Laralou,
Sorry to hear about your aunt. I am diagnosed as Grade 3 Stage 4b and I'm sure mine is endometrioid, sorry, currently having chemo and not at home to check my clinic letters. I have a squamous cell differentation though, which is very rare, which normally occurs in cervical or skin cancer, so that would make sense as endometrioid.
I can only have chemo and radio as treatment options as mine is not DNA or hormone receptive. My CNS told me that these aggressive cells are better receptive to chemo and I am having a good response according to midway CT and am not yet finished the cycles. The cancer has gone from my lungs and bones. She told me that she has found that the oncologists can usually offer more treatment as long as I am physically able to take it. I'm not sure that I've answered your questions but I hope I've given you some hope. Best wishes to you and your aunt.

Thank you barb, I think carcinoma is still a type 1 cancer like adenocarcinoma , just one starts in skin and one in glands xx
Hello again Lara Lou Sorry I didn’t really answer your question Endometrioid carcinoma and adenocarcinoma are the same
Hope this helps
Best wishes Petronella xx
Thank you hun, so I was right in assuming it was the same but one starts in glands other in skin? So it is still a type 1 cancer and not the really bad ones? However the grade is not good is it, I’m just praying she is low stage xx
