So I’ve been to see my consultant after my diagnosis of womb cancer to discuss the hysterectomy. He said that once they have done the operation then that’s it the cancer will be gone !! But reading the book they gave me and reading things on here. It all says the same thing that they can’t say if you need other treatment until they have done the biopsy on the womb when they have taken it out. I’m trying to stay positive and tell my family that it’s all ok as they only have to take it out and then it’s all over. They keep saying that it’s stage one and it’s a slow cancer but how can they know, I haven’t had any other tests done like bloods, MRI or cat scan nothing. I have my pre op on Monday but still haven’t got a date for the operation. I was diagnosed on the 13th July after I had to keep going back to my dr with really bad bleeding from Christmas until March when they put me on some hormone pills to stop the bleeding. It worries me that this thing as been going on for 8-9 months and they still keep saying it’s a slow progressing cancer without other tests. Sorry for going on abit im just confused and to top it off it looks like I may have to cancel my holiday as they may decide to do it the week I was ment to be away. Oh and I’m fed up of the way people who know I have cancer keep asking me if I’m ok ( I just want to say I’m good and yes I still have cancer lol)
Hallo Tia, it’s understandable to feel a bit all over the place as you try to get your head round all this. When is your holiday and for how long is it?
Hi Tia,
This is the place to 'go on' there is no need to say sorry. We have been in the same place as you and understand the anxieties that come with having this diagnosis. It certainly helped me to talk to people here when I was waiting for results or had any questions about absolutely anything. We can say things on here that we probably wouldn't say to our families for fear of worrying them.
I did have MRI scan can before my hysterectomy which they said was fibroids. It was only after my op that I was told that actually I did have cancer but the operation was the only treatment I needed as I was Grade 1 stage 1a.
I had bleeding and discharge for 13 months before I visited my doctor as I thought it was all to do with the menopause. I was told the same as you that it is a slow growing cancer and that if they realised it at the time, the only thing that would have been different is they would have operated a bit sooner.
If you had your pre-op it probably won't be longv before your op as they tend to move pretty quickly once that has been done. I think the waiting around is always the worst thing as your mind goes into overdrive.
Sending you a hug and my best wishes.
Amycdi, it was almost 6 weeks between my pre op and operation date.
Hi I’m only going on holiday for a week and I’m going to Devon so it’s not as though I’m going abroad when I saw my consultant last Monday he said they are hoping to do it in 4 weeks so fingers crossed it will be a couple of days after I get back
Tia, have you told them when your holiday is? I’d suggest having your holiday regardless and just having your op when you come back! A week, or even a few weeks, is unlikely to make a difference.
Hi ive had a couple of scans and they said then I had fibroids that’s why they put the marinara coil in about 2 and a half years ago which helped for about 6 months so then had to wait for another appointment with the hospital ( January this year ) to see a dr who told me all my problems were due to my 1 at pregnancy and that he couldn’t take the coil out as it would be a lot worse and to just keep taking the pills ( oh and not to push when I poo) so I rang my gp when I got home and said the pills don’t work and I’m still bleeding all the time and he sent me back to the hospital in March and I saw another dr who said I had to have another biopsy and scan they then took until July to do them and that’s when I found out I had cancer but I’m so scared now that it’s spread as it’s been going on for so long.
Yes I’ve told the consultant, the cancer nurse everyone who I deal with really so fingers crossed they will let me do it when I get back
Tia, I’d recommend that you give your CNS a call on Monday with your concerns and also ask if you will be having a staging MRI or CT.
Tia, it’s your choice when it’s done! If they offer a date that clashes, all you need to do is phone and reschedule it.
I asked the dr and he said no as he is sure that it’s only stage one but as I was told on here they can’t stage it until they take it out, I just don’t know anymore
