Good morning everyone
As we are getting towards the end of volunteers week I would like to pay tribute to the many thousands of volunteers in the UK, especially those working in health care settings. There was a lovely lady working in my chemo unit, in her eighties and she had volunteered there for many years. She was kept very busy making drinks, serving snacks and meals, wiping down chairs and chatting to the chemo patients. The nurses on the unit were always short staffed and very busy so her help was invaluable.
Hi Walkinglady. You must go to the same chemo unit as I did. There was also an elderly volunteer (also in her 80') there but she was so shaky on her pins we were all afraid (patients included) she was going to keel over at any time. They're all a great team at Pilgrim (Boston) where I go.
On behalf of all us Community Champs (also volunteers) I accept your thanks!
Barb xx
