Hi, I’m new to this group. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago. I’ve been taking tamoxafin and having zoladex injections to put me into early menopause. I had a slight bleed in November. I was referred to the gynaecologist….the gynaecologist suggest I had thickening of the womb and wanted to keep an eye on it. Fast forward….so my slight thickening of the womb has increased to 30mm in 6 months gulp! I’ve had a biopsy and the gynaecologist has already indicated that the biopsy is abnormal! I’m waiting on my full results….the gynaecologists nurse phoned me on Friday to confirm that he’d booked me CT scan. I’m absolutely terrified…..my mind is all over the place preparing / thinking of the worst case sceario! .

  • I, too, found out Friday that I have to do a CT scan. I was told by ultrasound my uterine wall was 21mm.

  • Hi & and a warm welcome to our group of supportive ladies. It was my ultrasound scan which revealed my uterine wall had thickened. After that I had a hysteroscopy with biopsies taken followed by a CT scan and an MRI.

The results of the biopsy suggested stage 1a/grade 1 Endometrial cancer. After my hysterectomy I was restage to stage 1b/ grade 3 serous adenocarcinoma.

It might also be a good idea to download this booklet Understanding Womb (Endometrial) Cancer. I found it invaluable on my journey.

  • Hey, thanks for taking time out to respond. The gynaecologist nurse called me today to ask me to return to clinic tomorrow for my results and treatment plan. Gulp xx

  • Hi Asti72

  • Hi Robin, thank you soo much for your kind words xx

  • I haven't received a call, yet, for CT scan. Still waiting. Since I am new to this group I will see about adding to my profile. My head is still in a whirl and I can't seem to focus on anything.

  • Hey so results day was today! I was informed that I have Lynch Syndrome which has probably caused this quite aggressive cancer!! Now I’m back on that hamster wheel…..CT scan needed and once we know what we are dealing with then hopefully a full hysterectomy with lymph node removal! 6 to 8 week waiting list due to covid! I’m terrified it will grow. And I pray it’s contained only in the womb xx thanks for listening ladies. Xx Kissing heart

  • Hi Asti72 and Samwise,  I'm so sorry to hear about your news.  I, too, found that my mind was in a whirl, and couldn't concentrate.  Mrs BJH was really supportive when I joined the forum last week.  Her suggestions are really good, even if you don't feel like doing anything.   Are your doctors and specialist nurses aware of how you feel.  I'm usually the last person to be open with doctors about how I'm feeling, but this gynae experience has taught me that it's OK to be very honest, especially with the specialist nurses.  A little more of my story is in my profile, which I added to on the advice of one of the lovely ladies on here. Sending very warm wishes.  Rx

  • Hello Asti72

Don't worry too much about the time from now to operation. I thought like yourself that the cancer was out of control to the point where I had Indigestion and abdominal pain every day. It took roughly 6 weeks from given diagnosis to actual operation but it was almost 3 months from the discharge I had to the time I had operation.  But my high grade 3 serous cancer was luckily contained within the womb and I was staged at 1a. What I'm trying to say is its aggressive but not that aggressive.  Try fill your days with positive thoughts and things to do  eat healthy and take long walks if you are able to and yiu eill already be on the right road to prepare for the journey ahead. Please ask anything you want and I'll be honest with the answer. Please read my bio it may help you. Good luck take care xx

  • Hi Samwise

Hopefully you will hear from the hospital soon with appointment for the CT scan. This will help the gynae team stage the cancer. Then you will hopefully know  roughly which cancer type and get a date for surgery

Marmitefan59 has written a very comprehensive DIARY from day 1, it helped me so much that I felt more confident going in to have the operation (having never been in hospital with major surgery before) I knew what to expect. Everything went well for me and was discharged day after. I had good recovery and the results from histology was that although I had high grade SEROUS cancer it was contained within the womb.

It's not always an easy journey but I am a positive person and just want to get treatment done ASAP and get back to normal.

You can do this and you've already been very wise joining the group where you don't need to Google as yiu can find first hand experiences from these lovely ladies.  Please take a moment to read my bio as it may help yiu in some way.  Take care xx
