Hello ladies. I’m 3 days post-op, endometrial ablation & laparoscopic sterilisation & feeling really rubbish. I was admitted for surgery & seen by a female Gynae who was part of my consultants team, she confirmed my planned surgery & off she went. Going back a little while now to Feb 2022 when I had a colposcopy & random sample endometrial pipelle biopsy taken, that sample was normal, CIN1 at most on cervix. I was referred to a different hospital for a 2nd opinion as I have chronic pelvic & back pain with & without bleeding. The appointment was unfortunately cancelled due to a change in clinics, however my GP arranged for me to have urgent pelvic & transvaginal ultrasounds.  I had these done the next day, with a report sent to my GP (I have an app linked to GP so I’m able to see everything) “atypical presentation of endometrium towards fundus / at fundus ? Post ablation change ? Polyp (I’d not had ablation at this point), please could we forward the results straight to Gynae”. 16.6mm endometrial thickness.Anyway said Gynae consultant came prior to my op “ you had a biopsy & it was ok”, referring to Feb random sample, basically not interested in last weeks scan results. He wasn’t going to sterilise me and stated my husband was sterilised ..HES NOT!! The female team member showed him my form and said you have her down for sterilisation. At that point he walked away, never to be seen again. He operated on my friend in the afternoon at a different hospital! I was sent home, told to take paracetamol and he would see me in 6 weeks !!! I’ve made it clear I want no further contact  with this man and have been assured I will be seen at a different trust in future, hopefully fast tracked within 2 weeks.

    Hi Aimee

I find it hard to believe the actions of the Consultant, it sound though he should be reported to his hospital trust. I hope your new hospital trust to which you've been referred are more on the ball and get you sorted out quickly. I'm unfamiliar with some of medical terminology used so have you also posted this in the Cervical Cancer forum?, the ladies there especially will be more knowledgeable.

I hope you make steady progress after your op.

    Hugs, Barb xx

  • Hi Barb

Aimee posted a few times originally in the cervical cancer group, but from her story it seemed like the womb group might have more information and advice. The consultant’s attitude is terrible-I wouldn’t want to see him again either!

Unbelievable really. I’ve had a bad experience so far, However I ’m hoping the new trust will be better going forward. It’s quite concerning the way he has treat me. I’m very sore following surgery. Not bleeding or having any discharge which I was told to expect after ablation!
