Hi all hope you are keeping well,

I had my 5th lot of chemo today, all went well was a long day.  My magnesium levels are down a little and something to do with my liver is slightly raised but they aren’t too worried about it.  Next one is on 25th April which I’m hoping will be my last one but will have a scan when done to see what the next step is. X

  • Brilliant news Rach_E glad you were well enough to have it done this week after your chest infection last week.

    Big hug

    Robin x

  • That is great news Rach_E.

I was supposed to have my 5th chemo session yesterday but it's been delayed again due to my platelet count being too low.  My chemo has been delayed on numerous occasions due to one of my various blood counts being too low.

Sounds like you have been able to have your chemo every three weeks with no delays which is great to hear x

  • Bless you Sarah16, it must be so frustrating for you to have the delays. Nice to hear they are monitoring you so closely though. You will get there Sarah. Are you due 6 sessions in total?

    Best regards

    Robin x

  • Hi Robin, yes there are 6 sessions in total and then this will be followed with a CT scan.  I'm just pleased I've never had a reaction to the chemo.  It's just my blood levels that drop that cause the delays.

The plan after that will be 3-monthly blood tests to check my CA125 level hasn't risen as my cancer is a known CA125 secretor (not all cancers are) x

  • Hi . Nearly there!. Hope your magnesium levels stay stable. I just got away with needing a blood transfusion because my red blood count dropped. Everything else went down steadily but enough to not cancel treatment thankfully.

My scan is on 25th May, 8 weeks after last cycle. Once again we've got the waiting and worrying. Having said that I feel great, not used morphine for a couple of weeks so I feel fairly confident. I'll also have my CA125 levels checked as my markers at one point were 100, now 19. I've got to have a blood test early May then see Oncologist early June.

    Hugs to all, Barb xx

  • Hi all sorry for late reply been a busy day taking me mum and nan out and now got a poorly kid so had to pick him up from school early.  I was meant to have my 5th one last week but was cancelled to this week as I had a wheezy chest so needed that looking at first, was put on antibiotics for 5 days which sorted it out.  This is the first time anything has come up on my bloods it’s all usually ok but they didn’t seem very worried about it and just said it could just be from the build up of treatments.  I’m not sure when my next scan is one hasn’t been booked for me yet, don’t know if it will be straight after treatment or there will be a bit of a gap.  I’m not sure what my ca125 was to start but last time I asked which was possibly after my 4th treatment it was 14 I think, don’t know if thats good or not.  I don’t know what the plan is for me after treatment nothing has really been said, I assume they will want to see what the scan shows. X

  • Hi Sarah16

You are fortunate not to have much of a reaction to the chemo, have you had much change to your hair?. Its great that they cant keep a check on your CA125 levels with 3 monthly blood tests. Am I correct in saying that they can only check CA125  levels for ovarian cancer?

  • Hi Barb

How are you feeling today? It must be a lovely feeling knowing your Chemo has finished.

  • Hi and , sorry for chipping in. My three monthly blood tests will check my CA 125 levels aa apparently they're my cancer markers. Before my chemo I was very high at 100, after last test I was down to 19.

    Hugs, Barb xx

  • Hi . I can pretty well honestly say, apart from peripheral neuropathy and a sore tongue with tiny ulcers, I'm feeling really well. Can't believe the difference in a week! Hopefully the neuropathy and tongue ulcers will lessen as the weeks go by. Just waiting for my 4th Covid jab on 16th April and i may venture out YAY!

    Hugs, Barb xx
