Possible infection

Hi all,

As you all know I have been on chemo and my hair started to come out so I decided to shave it just over a week ago.  I did some research and saw that it was best to shave it down to a number two to avoid ingrowing hairs.  Had my second round of chemo last Monday and everything seemed ok.  Over the last week I have noticed spots on the back of my head that have been a little sore and itchy, as the week has gone on I have got more now they are all over my head.  Called my chemo unit today who spoke to my doctor and the doctor called me and said it sounds like it could be a hair follicle infection and has prescribed antibiotics and hibi scrub.  Only I could end up with a possible infection in my head lol, got to laugh or you would cry Face palm tone1

  • Hi . I showed one of the chemo nurses my rashes on my head, she said keep an eye on it, if they get sore and weepy I can get some cream from my GP. I try to go "commando" and let the air get to my head rather than wearing a wig or turban but I do know it unsettles hubby.

  • I think the antibiotics are a precaution and will try washing my head with the hibi scrub later.  I wear a hat when I’m out as not confident enough to go out without one yet but at home or if I’m at family or friends houses then I take it off. X

  • If it was warmer I'd go commando but it's too blooming cold.
